I have a Mondeo titanium wagon and when at traffic lights the air conditioning does not stay cool. I took it back to the dealer at last service who regard it and said it was fine. I have turned the auto start stop function off so that it is running the whole time. I checked the cooling fans and they are operating.
I have two theories. The fans do not suck enough air through the condenser as the fins on the fans do not look very big. The second option is the temperature sensor is not correct as I think it is reading lower than what the air actually is. Very rarely does the air actually feel 16-17 degrees. Did anyone have the same issue on their MD Mondeo. Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk |

Mine does this intermediately. Usually just after starting on a hot day.

My MC has the weakest aircon of any car I've had - best being BF Fairlane.

only one way to find out, get a temp. probe and start checking air temps on it's lowest setting at the vent. A range of 3-7DegC is about as good as it gets.
Can also check if a 20DegC setting is in that ball park

...if it is low on gas, then you might find that some car vents are cold, others less cold, and others warm - I had a vehicle with the left side cold and the right side warm - and it was due to low amount of gas.

Exactly... they shouldn't refill the gas without first knowing how the original escaped in the first place! ...otherwise the replacement gas is just going to escape the same way. I had a 1 year old Peugeot that had some hoses perish and I lost the gas that way.

What setting do you use the air cond on? Mine is always set to Auto, 18C, and works a treat. The only time it hesitates is immediately after starting on a hot day, then it may take about 30 seconds to kick in.

It is the GX (base model) and has the simple one zone A/C. However my MC wagon is terrible. On very hot days it is lucky to cool to a reasonable level. I have had them re-gas it but still sub-standard. I just don't think the A/C unit is up to our Aussie conditions.

The Mondeo AC was probably only designed (and built to a budget) to operate in European extremes ie where a hot day is one that cracks into the 30's. Add on the extra cabin space & glass of the wagon & it's likely the AC system just isn't up to the task.. |

Mondeo AC has always been ordinary in my opinion. The MB XR5T we had was useless. I thought they would have sorted it out by now.

Very poor from day 1 of new car ownership. Would have been a deal breaker if I'd known beforehand. Dealer ''checked'' it three times during warranty and said all OK. (Disclaimer: some dealers are better than others.) Finally paid to get my regular mechanic to regas, and hey presto, works like it should. Last January at Narrabri it was a recorded 43deg outside, and aircon set on 20deg inside meant a very pleasant cool drive south to Coonabarabran for the overnite stop (have the photos to prove it!!) Just get an independent to regas. |

Always I hit the closed ventilation button after a minute running with window open and then closed. The car then only has to cool its own interior air.

Have someone spray condenser with hose while you test temp. remember that water will cool better than fan blowing hot air however.

Mine must be a goodie, it's set to 21.5DegC and it's cold, if it's directed to the side of my face my earlobe aches, I don't keep it on my feet for anything more than 40mins on a long drive where it's 30+.
I have had the fan speed controller replaced circa 2015 as it failed. Seeing as there is only one fan in my MB it kept tripping the AC (overtemp) which wasn't appreciated 2hrs into a drive to Airlie Beach (from Cairns 48DegC day out in the middle of nowhere) early January. $700 and a few days later the trip home was lovely and cold. Nice Breakfast in Bowen too.

My new MD diesel is set for 22degC and is always cold in less the 1min.
It is the best air con. compere to my previous Mondeos, MA diesel (the worst) and MC Ecoboost. I think that Ford is improving air con performance in each new model. |

Yes, the MA aircon was poor. I think the dealer had a couple of attempts but it was never great.
The MB is fine unless it sits in the sun for a few hours. The Max setting does help. Sent from my SM-G9208 using Tapatalk

Just thinking back on this, the first time I test drove an MD at the dealer, way back in mid 2015, felt the same as what you had described. But when I tested the same car again a couple of months later, it felt fine, so I signed on.
My car - different one to the one that I tested - has no issues with the air conditioning.
