Default car insureance

I have my xr6 ef insured for an agreed value of x amount of dollars with racv for which i pay around $50 a month. I have just rung another reputable insurance company to see if they could better the other qoute. Unfortunately the said reputable company declined to give me a qoute to match the one with the racv. Whats going on... i thought that insurance companys would kill to get sombodys business. Has anybody had the same experience.

Kind of... we bought our new car and hunted around for quotes. One insurer (who also insures our home and contents) came back with a HUGE premium. We found one that was significantly cheaper from another insurer, asked them to match it and they declined.

So we cancelled our home and contents and moved everything over to the new insurer who provided the quote for comprehensive on our new car. As it happens, their H&C quote was far less too. Saved us over $800 a year in total.

Makes you wonder how they stay in business, really. And when I rang to cancel everything, not once did they ask me why... perhaps they already knew? ;)

Insurance companies will not do anything to gain your business.

Each company has their own criteria and if it's not met then you will not get a good deal.
