I was a little bored today in Melbourne with the sh!tty and very cold weather we've been having and everything and decided that I'd like something different, nice and warm and sweet for some lunch or morning tea.
I'd heard so much about these Krispy creme signiture doughnuts; "The Original Glazed", that I decided I had to have one after researching the company and the doughnut in question on the net. Imagine how horrified I was to learn that Krispy Kreme was only in Sydney!! And not only just one in Sydney, but in 6 or 7 different locations around Sydney! I cant beleive they make 7 of em in Sydney, and not even ONE anywhere else!!! Crazy. So what my question is, has anyone tried the Krispy Kreme doughnut? Anyone Experienced Krispy Kreme? Does it live up to the hype, are the original glazed really really good? Are they Worth a road trip for, "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle" styles?? Hopefully the come to Melbourne soon, and I can try them and make my own judgement :hihi: |

KK are awesome. I thought it was just a bandwagon originally but then I caved in and tried one. Never looked back. The 2 x a dozen box deal is also good value.

Love em. I thought they only had one variety, until my in-laws brought back 2 dozen mixed ones. They are all bloody great - favourite(s) would be the Custard filled, choc icing one and the lemon filled dusted one. And of course the original round sugar bomb (glazed).

Krispy creme are OK, but if you really want donuts fly to Canada and have some Tim Hortons donuts, best in the world in my opinion.

One of the best ways to get a large quantity of kilojoules in a sugar based format. Not so much a doughnut as a "whipped air and pastry product, covered in a light icing glaze all over".
The 6th or 7th one really hits the spot!

they are fantastic !!!!!!!! I was working in Sydney a lot a few months ago and i had to buy a big variety box each trip from the airport store.
They had some franchises arranged in Melbourne earlier this year and were advertising for store managers. However they had some disappointing sales results in sydney and decided to put things on hold for a while, as least that's the reason they gave to a friend who was going to start a franchise. I believe they are still going to open some stores here, it will just take a while. |

We got about 5 dozen boxes for a fundraiser at work last year.
Driving back from the shop to work after collecting them was torture. The smell... the view in the rear view mirror... there were several times I didn't think that they were all going to make it back...

Yes, heroin usage in Sydney has dropped now we have KK - the donuts are MUCH more addictive...
Being a dedicated lover of the five fast food groups, i must say that even i fall into a twitching sugar rush coma after consuming 9 of these wonderful circles of sweetness

I love KKs, but because I'm trying to lose weight I only eat them once every 6 months or so. If I do decide to cave in to the urge, I will ALWAYS go inside so I get the freebie hot glazed, straight from being fried in oil and bathed in icing. The melt-in-your-mouth texture... god, I've just gained 2kg reading this thread. Worth the road trip.
