Slow down and drive with caution

I dont want this to be a hoon bash thread, we all know my opinions there

but on Friday night we had another one in my local area, the investigation is still open so we wont cast any sort of assumptions BUT all I can say is this type of impact doesnt happen at 50kmh

impact 1 & 2, takes the tree out of the ground and the car impacts with the retaining wall

I dont know the current condition of the driver, but I do know they were not very well when they were transported.

theres no need for this, so please guys slow down and bit and use a bit more caution

Lets not jump to conclusions. Its not impossible that a huntsman in the face or a health condition could have caused this. Or even sexual misadventure?!

Could have but um didnt,

Ive been to a number of these and we had an incedent a week or so earlier that was the result of a diabetic situation, and you right it is technicaly possible, I did open my post with I dont want a hoon bashing thread. All I ask is that people see the pics and with any luck take it on board and slow down and drive with more caution

Good post, pictures speak more than words.

Who knows what happened to cause this accident, but it does show that no matter what type of car, what kind of street, accidents can happen anywhere and it is a good message, especially coming into winter when roads are not always dry and ideal summer conditions.

Take a closer look at the sidewalls of both tyres and yes it does look damp but could also be the fireys aftermath.

the road was dry at the time of the incedent this happend in north western sydney on friday night at arround 18:45 so you know what the roads have been like latlety if you look closly to the left of the impact with the wall you can see where the car has skipped allong the wall digging in to the wet grass

this person was VERY lucky, well I assume they were and still are it really was that close

It was raining at night on friday at my place in south sydney hence why I asked

Who knows what caused it if it was driver error/racing or something else

Ive seen a driver try and dodge a dog on the road only to loose control and end up in someones front yard

Great Post, I think some forget how we all have acted at some stage or another, and some of us (me included in this) have been lucky enough to not endure anything like this result.
I also think its important to remember that, Regardless of what he was or did do, he is now paying for his actions in a big way, and might do for the rest of his life. I dont wish this on my worst enemy, and these photos certainly do show how (maybe) 5 minutes of fun can sometimes turn into a lifetime of misery. I certainly hope that this isn't the case here.

That's terrible news, condolences to you and the family.

As for the OP's post....... it's a shocking reality every day we see things like this. Was it a young bloke ?

One thing is for sure as a parent of two boys, when they are older (one's not too far off) I'll make damn sure this doesn't happen to them.
I'll take them to emergency wards and rehab centres to see the results first hand.
I'll also take them to the track as often as possible so they can beat on their cars if they want to.

Good thread. whilst we all don't agree with the govt's attitude toward speed and speeding, what we see in the OP pic is why the govt are like they are. there has been a bit of a spate of these of late in different states and regardless of how it happened, i think its pretty obvious, the speed limits aren't being adhered to.

its these kind of things that make it harder for all the law abiding people, afterall, the law abiders are the only ones affected by legislation. the people who come unstuck and wrap themselves around trees aren't following the rules so tightening them will have zero effect.

AFF has a large membership so all AFF members need to make sure they do the right thing and at least then thats a start and can cause a flow on effect amongst family and friends. as car enthusiasts, we have to use restraint and realise there is a time and place for being stupid, and public roads isn't it.

as tragic as this is, there is a small lesson. the passengers got out because they felt unsafe. this saved their life. if you feel you are a passenger in a car that is being driven unsafely, hop out. in this case, it saved their lives.

so don't be tools on the road. if you're always in a rush, leave 10min earlier. its not hard. if you feel like you have to prove yours is bigger all the time - grow up. take it to the track.

edit - i'm not saying if you don't speed you are safe, but those coming unstuck aren't just drifting a bit over the limit.

Prydey Your on the money, dropping speed limits isn’t the issue its adhering to the ones that are there, in the case of my first post the limit is 50kmh I don’t believe the vehicle was traveling at that speed, and there are a number of other issues that I won’t go in to that I believe also led to the drivers injury’s

Your post on the Dubbo incident is tragic in that I was out that way over Easter and attended the drags at the air strip on the Sunday, it was a great day, but I was suppressed there wasn’t more local people taking advantage of the opportunity, and then to see this a week on is a real tragedy. I am only grateful that these two had the sense to get out of the car before they were also on the list of casualty’s or deaths.

I was at a job a few weeks ago that although looked bad it was just a bit of blood and not that bad (in real terms they were very lucky not to be more injured) any how, the lady accross the road from me drove past it on the way home she grabed her 16yo & 18yo kids through them in the car and drove them back, I'm not a fan of spectators but I cant argue with her tactic of letting these kids see 1st hand the seen to hopfully make them think before they do any thign stupid.

the fact is a lot of the time holdens are over represented simply because there are more of them on the roads. tools can be found behind the wheel of every make and model invented.

He was a popular young man, many are feeling the impact of this unfortunate accident.
