I dont know where it all started really. Theres a few things from very young which stand out.

- My Uncles old XE
- Memories of dad's EA Falcon and all its woes
- Always loved an underdog -- makes the win all the sweeter
- Being very young and having the opportunity to drive a brand new EF Gli out on a farm.

Theres so many more things but i digress, I stay loyal now a days because the blue oval defines me, when i get spare time (seldom these days) it involves something to do with it. I save because I want to afford blue oval related items....and then theirs that burning desire, the feeling i get when i go to bathurst every year!

Ah, I love it when threads like this come up. Hopefully this one doesnt degenerate into a whinge-fest.

Ive loved Fords since childhood, I lost my way with my first car (a Magna) for a moment, but quickly embraced my blue destiny with a Falcon as my second. Its been nothing but proud Ford motoring ever since. And will continue on to my last breath. I dont need to outline the endless positives of ownership for myself, it all boils down to admiring it as I open the door, sit behind the wheel & fire up Henry's finest.

Yes, that may be vomit-inducing for some, but Ford motoring is, and always will be a passion of mine that no one can take from me.

Hard to say exactly where my love of ford started. Grew up in a 1976 xc gs (6 only) and xe fairmont (again 6 only). Grandfather had a zh fairlane and an xy falcon. The first memory of hairs standing up on the back my neck was when the old man fired up our ski boat, 302 Cleveland with massive pipes. Boat used to sit for 6 months plus so was difficult to start, remember it cranking over trying to start and eventually it would fire and sounded awesome. Had rubber flaps on the pipes which made it sound tough. When it got in the water and opened up it brought a smile to my face. Also remember walking down chapel st in Melbourne when I was about 20, saw an xc gs ute with an awesome stance, obnoxious sounding Cleveland, mags, top paint job and I thought I HAVE to have one of those!!!

1. I don't automatically look like a hoon just cuz I'm in a commo with p plates
2. They sound better
3. They look better.

Apart from those I have no fair comparison to Holden etc. because ive never owned anything but ford, except for 1 magna which was a pretty good car. Just not as good as my EB or BA

My parents always owned various Kingswoods and Toranas growing up, all V8s, so I suppose I should probably support the General. Unfortunately, the Holden of today is nothing like the Holden of the 70s.

I have always liked Fords and will continue to own them in the future because they make excellent big cruisers like the Falcon, the Falcon suits me. It's big, very comfortable, safe, practical and to be honest I'm happy with the performance of my old EL so anything better than that I'd be chuffed with. They are also great value for money, massive bang for buck factor, plus the Falcon in particular has a long heritage that I respect. There aren't many, in fact I don't think there are any other cars on the market today, that you could say that for.

my first experience was my dads xb wagon growing up. my mum still laughs when we were at the train station (1982 i was 7) and we were waiting a good half hour for a taxi. the first taxi arrived and it was a holden. for the life of me i wouldn't get in it, and we waited for another one to turn up. it was an xe..
fords came with the old falcons, a cortina, zh fairlane, ef's, xb utes/ esp's,and xc's...xa coupe, and a few xa sedans...
i was 16 when we got a hj statesman. it was that or a lada..sold that and
purchased a zh fairlane marquise.
mates had their passion with the blue oval also, and my obsession grew stronger. in user friendly explanation of my love to ford, its like the old star wars.
holden is the dark side. no matter what, fords are a way of life.

my mates dad saw an fc holden cruisin and asked my mate 'would jimmy like that car in his driveway?' and my mate replied 'dad if it hasn't got a ford badge it wouldn't be allowed in his driveway' lol...

My old man was always in a Ford after having an affair with a Mazda RX3 then 4. In my Formative years it started with an XC 302 Fairmont wagon, then a F100 shorty with 351, big wheels and a canopy then it was traded for a P7 LTD Town car which I got to drive on many an occasion after I got my licence. My first car was a hand me down TC cortina which I flogged the bejesus out of and it never missed a beat so that was my introduction to the Blue oval. When I spent my own money on a car for the first time it was on a HQ panel van and my love affair for 70s' holdens lasted for the next 20 years, mostly HQ's. I could of updated many a time but from the introduction of the VB crappydoor and the XD I refused to touch those horrid plastic y under powered tin cans till both manufacturers got some serious quality control and engine power back. I briefly contemplated an ED back in the late 90's as it was a well screwed together unit with plenty of go for the time but it wasn't till I had kids in 04 that I turned to Ford over all others for my daily. 2 EL wagons came and went, both good units then the AU which we still own. It's been solid and reliable and always a pleasure to drive and my missus swears she'll never part with it and she'll drive it into the ground. For myself, these days I like a little luxury and comfort so a Fairlane was always going to be the only choice. I had an NF which was an excellent car till it was written off by the insurance company and now I have my Sportsman. It's been a little problematic at times with niggly issues which I put down to it's previous life as a company car but I love it and it'll take something special to make me want to part with it.

This is my first Ford, although I've always been a Ford fan. Ever since laying my eyes on the Cobra. Then I thought the EB was awesome, then the BA and when the FG came out, I thought I'd definitely want one. Then finally my time came late last year.
My first car in 89 was a Hyundai Excel, from there into a Hyundai Lantra, then a Subaru Liberty RS and then a WRX. And now the XR50.

It's your usual media beat up.
Unfortunately, they beat it up so often that the business itself cannot recover from it. Frankly I'm surprised that Ford & Holden havent gone the legal avenue on the media, they make so many assumptions and baseless stories on hearsay and rumour.
It's like the saying goes, for every positive story told, the ten lots of negative will always be heard and remembered to stamp out the positive... Or something like that anyway.

And to the last part of the OP's post.
We've had Fords in our family since the 1920's, nearly 100years of blue blooded genes right here. And I has photos to prove it :P

Why I like mine? The Volvo engine, the handling and the seats. Nothing else bar the Focus RS comes close.

Early family car was a Ford when I was a kid. But nobody in my family cared either way, since there followed a string of Mazda's, Nissans, Toyota's and Kias.

But I realised over the years that when we watched Bathurst on TV, I was always hoping a Ford won, but had lost hope because of all the Brock wins, the Sierra was imported, and the Nissan was a really expensive rich mans car competing against ordinary cars. Racing was always on the periphery and not something to get serious about.

And you know what, I never really realised this until I was in University, when I saw Seton circulating in the first of the EA/EB V8s, and when the 5 Litre category started, BAM, instant Ford fan.

I then had a string of Holden company cars -which was the only way I was going to ever be in a Holden ie someone else pays for the cars and the fuel. Then a string of cars I had while living overseas included a Ford Sierra 1.8 that was pleasing but nothing special. But back in Oz and the very first time I had a chance to Novate a lease, I jumped right into a BA XR8, and was so happy with the purchase that my wife was pushed out of her Ford Telstar into a Territory Ghia.

My dad has always had fords. I was brought up in a XW 302 Fairmont wagon, which he still has awaiting resto. I have had my fair share of fords ( see sig ). The family still has fords inc BA XR6, BF XR6 and a 2011 Fiesta. Can't see anything changing in the future.

First memory is my dads XB 302 falcon 500. White and a beautiful old thing. At the time he also had a XK sedan for a project and sourced an XK-P for parts. So was in the garage "helping" quite a bit when he'd work on it.

From there he bought an EA wagon and other than the over heating problem they had it was a terriffic car. 330000Ks on the thing when he sold it with the original box. It was pretty much indestructible

I can basically thank my Dad for my love of fords. He got me hooked on bathurst.

We had/have a family friend who worked at the Laser assembly line in Homebush. Went for a run in his Tx3 Turbo and i still remember it vividly

First car thanks to my Dad was a 67 XR ute that we bought for $400 and did it up. Moved on to an AU Xr6VCT then BAMKII turbo and then drove a AWD Magna for around 6 months. HAd a KH2 laser S for a while and it was a top little car.

The Magna was a good car but missed the turbo so much. Now have a FG Turbo

Love the Territory because it is the second best SUV in the world (behind Ford's venerable Explorer), and the best on the curent Oz market. Does everything we need it to do, does it well, and despite the odd small problem, is very reliable (we have had no unexpected days off the road).

The Courier doesnt have much Ford in it as Mazda...but it looks so much better than its Zoom Zoom brother..and beholds the mighty blue oval!Tis a truck thats definitley built Ford tough!

The family wagon, legendary motor, RWD, great ride, good NVH, comfy, seems to be put together well..best 2wd family/cruise car you can buy imo!

The AUII we had was so so much better though

But at the end of the day....I always smile when i get behind the wheel of a Falcon.

same here, but getting a ride in a XY GT certainly helped turn the blood blue (i think i was about 15 at the time). Dick Johnson certainly contributed.

I'll paint you a picture with words, and see if I can come close to describing why I love my Fords.

It's a cool and fresh Sunday morning, about 13 degrees but sunny. Open the roller door, and as it slowly rolls upward I see the chrome bumper catch a little sunlight and gleam. Then the quad lights almost blink open as the shadow of the roller door raises, and then I see the shaker...

Wander over and push in the button on the handle and swing the door out, it makes a little creak as it opens. I hop in the seat and get comfy, ready to unleash the sound. I put the key in and turn, the starter motor turns and then it begins. That sound. Nothing quite like a Clevo V8 inside a garage. It rumbles to life and I can smell the fuel, watching the shaker shudder side to side as the engine idles. I sit, taking it all in for about 2-3 mins just enjoying the hypnotic rum-rum-rum-rum-rum-rum.

Reaching over my right shoulder to unhook the seatbelt, then reaching over to my left removing the clip from the console holster. Now reaching above my head I wind the golde handle, opening the roof. Twist and release the handbrake, push in the heavy clutch, and shove the shifter into 1st (those who understand the toploader may have used the words force, slam, punch, smash, etc - to select a gear) slowly roll the clutch out and you're moving...

Once you get out on the road you have to open it up a little... Watch the shaker twist when you jump into it, but be careful with corners as the locker diff isn't very forgiving! It Doesn't matter where you are driving people will stop and stare, some in awe, some with respect, some in shock!

This - is why I like LOVE my Ford...

First of all i consider myself a car enthusiast in general, so things like brand loyalty dont really sit well with me as most manufacturers have had their share of good and bad, the key is to have good knowledge to tell the difference.
having said that, i always end up back with the Blue Oval in the end.

It all started for me when i was 4.
My early life was far from what you'd call normal, infact i am the product of an affair that ended in conception in the back seat of an XY 2v Fairmont in 76.
Both parties went their seperate ways and it wasnt until both marriages broke down some 4 years later that i was reunited with my biological Father.
My first memory of him was his white XY parked out the front, mum loading all our possesions into it and leaving for our new life.
Until that time i had only known of 2 vehicles, a white HQ belmont wagon, and a family friends P76.
The P76 stood out due to its unique shape, the HQ, rough as nails.
So when i slid into the back seat of the XY, still in as new condition with bucket seats, t bar and immaculate saddle trim, it was like a new world of luxury, well to a 41/2 yr old anyway.

Over the years Dads love of his Fords grew on me and the annual Bathurst race was a real highlight in my early years, i used to love seeing dad on the edge of his seat shouting at the TV for what he said was a definite Holden bias from race control...years later, nothings changed there, go figure.

When time came for my first car, it couldnt be anything else and so i proudly drove home in my 79 TE 2.0l Cortina, ah those were the days.

After a string of other brands, some of which raised the brow and ire of dad, i've settled back with my beloved Blue Oval, in what i believe is the best model car ever screwed together in this country, The AU.
Sure, its looks can be polarizing, and not to everyones tastes, but i know come hell or high water, when i slide into the drivers seat and turn the key, reliability rewards me in bundles, what more could you ask for in exchange for walking, talking about walking, i even call my thongs the foot Falcon, for those places i just cant take the real deal.

Fast forward to now and the thing that puts the biggest smile on my face is when a bogan in a Commodore feels the need to break the speed limit just to get infront of my Blue oval, such is the obvious envy and need to compete, but i dont bite, i just shake my head, crank up the stereo an extra few notches and enjoy the ride, i always end up infront at some stage and im a patient bloke.

One of the first cars I drove on the road was a XT GT, my footy coach had a XW GT, my dad was a policeman and had many Ford policecars, but one was a XWGT - ex highway patrol car

My first car was a 1962 XL Falcon, I drove (very quickly across Phillip Island, not on the track, on the public roads) a XB GT not long after I turned 18 (1975).

I owned a 1966 440 Cortina when I married in 1977, sold it and bought a 1976 TD Cortina (3.3 ltr and 3 on the floor)

Bought a Ford Spectron (warst damn car I ever owned) but I needed the extra seats when my wife gave birth to our twin sons (4 kids under 4 years of age)

Bought a MK Nissan Patrol after that (2nd worse car I ever owned, it was just a lemon)

Traded up in 1991 to a 1989 Ford Maverick - TD42, one of the best cars I ever owned.

Bought a 1997 Fairmont Ghia as a 2nd car in 2001, sold it to my daughter (who still has it) in 2009, sold the Maverick to a 18yo ****** who didn't deserve such a good car at the same time, bought a 2008 Falcon RTV ute, sold it in 2010 and bought a new Ford Ranger.

My current fleet consists of the Ranger, a 1983 XE Falcon (351C) race-car and a pretty original 1966 XP Falcon Coupe (hardtop).

I am not sure why I like Fords, maybe you can help me, my dad loved Holdens may he rest in peace - LOL

A friend opened my very bias Holden eyes by suggesting an au fairmont ghia. That amazing interior and handling forced me to reconsider me prejudice and it payed off.

2 Holden's and 2 fords later I now love my fg.f6 and will probably keep it for ever hehe

Pretty reliable, cheap to repair and run. Also my EF comes off as a pretty solid car and I'm in newer cars all the time as part of my job. Love how the exterior and interior looks too.

Hello, all!

This is my first post here. I live in the US. I've been a Ford fan since I bought my first car, a 1969 Mustang SportsRoof. I got it in 1985 when I was in college. I still have it, but its been rusting quietly for years. It needed to be restored before the Mack truck hit it in 1995.

My first new car was a 1991 Mustang LX 5.0 hatchback. I loved that car, but it was stolen in 1994! I started driving the '69 again, until the Mack truck hit it.

Then I got a '95 Mustang GTS. The GTS is a little-known model, but it was similar to the LX 5.0s. I've still got the GTS, and a few years back I did all the mods to it that I had dreamed of doing since I bought it. Now it has as many Edelbrock parts as I could fit on it, plus a full Griggs road-racing suspension (coilover shocks all round, tubular K-member and A arms, Panhard rod, and torque arm). Funny thing is, when it was stock I autocrossed it regularly, but I haven't had it to any kind of track since I spent all that money on mods.

My main daily driver is a 2001 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, which I actually factory ordered (something you're not supposed to be able to do). In the US, we call the '98 and newer Crown Vic style the whale bodies, and my is white, so I nicknamed it Moby Vic, the Great White Whale.

They're not fast cars, but there is a mythology associated with them. It was certainly fun when I first got the car--people would get out of my way and were afraid to pass me.

In 2005 I added a supercharger. Now the car moves the way people think cop cars move. (It's still not particularly fast, though--14.6 in the quarter mile vs. 16 flat stock.)

Regarding the potential demise of the Falcon, we Panther chassis fans just went through the worst of it. With the demise of Mercury, the Grand Marquis died over a year ago, and the Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car died last September.

I had the privilege of touring the plant where my car was built in 2010 and 2011. It was sad last year (we toured in June), but we got to see a lot more than we saw the year before!

I signed on to this board for a few reasons. First, as a Ford fan I'm very interested in the Australian Falcons. I've read a book on them, and I have a fairly large collection of Biante and Classic Carlectables diecasts.

I'm actually considering a trip to Australia this fall to witness the Bathurst 1000. I understand that the V8 Supercars rules are changing next year and the series will be more like US NASCAR in a bad way.

I'm trying to figure out if it's a crazy idea to visit Australia to see the race, but I won't bog down this topic with that.

Anyway, I've been a Ford fan going on 30 years. The history of the company is fascinating, personally I think Fords have always had the best, most enduring styling, and I've always been a sucker for the flathead V8.

I was in my early 20s in the glory days of the Fox-body 5.0 Mustangs, and those cars always had a real magic to them. It's amazing what Ford has done with the Mustang since, but the cars have gotten much more complicated and expensive since the days of crank windows and rear brake drums.
