Default Holden recalls 16,000 Captivas

Quote:
The threat of a potential engine fire has forced GM Holden to recall more than 25,000 vehicles powered by its 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine.

The recall notice is for 16,181 Series 1 Captivas built between February 11, 2008, and January 2, 2011, after a fault was found in the fuel feed hose. It also affects 2724 Epicas made between February 1, 2008, and June 20, 2011, and 6512 Series 1 Cruze vehicles built between November 4, 2008, and July 20, 2010.

That's what happens when you buy/assemble crap cars.

I'm speaking specifically of the nasty Korean (Daewoo) imports that Holden tries to fob off as quality vehicles.

Must apply to the commodore when they had the potential fire recall. The good thing is it's been identified and getting rectified.

Fair point...almost..since less than 4000 Terrys were recalled compared to the 25,000 Daewoos.

You gotta admit though, the vehicles Holden are importing are rubbish! hell they decided the best petrol motor for the Captiva was the Commodore V6!

Oh, well we better include the 5000 Terrys recalled for slippery floor mats and the 2% percent of terrys with front brake issues between 2004 and 2008 as well...

THEN we should include the 13,000 Captivas recalled in 2010 whose steering wheels fell off (lol) and the unknown number of 2008 models with indicator issues and the 2007 models where the brake pedal clip malfunctioned.

A quick count is suggesting that more Captivas have been recalled than Territories...

What do I win?

There are some better Korean cars coming out now, the Capitva is not one of them... either is the Barina or the Cruze (pre-Aus build but its still well behind class leaders).

Proof that good marketing sells an inferior product... Holden has done this for years and continues to succeed at it.

Holden have called it the SPARK PLUG.

What does it matter if x amount of recall's were made or not, have we become this bad on here that we take pleasure in other people's missfortunes ?
I must remember the next time someone on here post's something about their bad day and remember to laugh hiding behind the keyboard.... as that is what we seem to have become...

Like I have said in my intial post atleast Holden are being proactive and fixing the problem.. all those that find it amusing should remember the next time they buy something retail and it stuff's up and want to whinge and complain because the manufacturer is giving them the runabout... we are all laughing at you.

So you're saying its taken Holden nearly 4 years to find the problem, when it took Ford about a month to find the Territorys fuel leak and issue a recall.

Fuel leaks seem to be a common problem with Holdens, first VE, and now Craptiva, Epica and Cruze.

Holden fuel leaks- 4
Ford fuel leaks- 1

One of the reasons that there would be so many Captiva recalls compared to Territory recalls would be the numbers of them sold.
If they are selling more cars obviously the number of cars recalled will be higher.
If you wanna poke fun youhave to compare apples to apples otherwise you look like an uneducated toothless Holden fan boy.

Who cares about recalls, look at the sales

In this case numbers win!

What about the rust in the tailgates, boots, bonnets, door jams, sunroofs ect on the Falcons and TerritorysThey havent got it fixed since the XD started.Do Ford even know what seam sealer is?

and thats it.. not one other problem..
i was warned not to buy one but when its what the boss wants its what she gets....its also the only suv with 7 adult sized seats..(the other reason we got it).....if there is one thing i really dont like its the fuel economy..it really does like a drink..

Im not a fan of the captiva but at least unlike Toyota and Ford they are not sweeping it under the rug and recalling them.

The ball joint issue while it was not a recall but a "field action campaign" was done because they were not prepared to fix it properly and put in the SY2 design but just replace it with the same BJ again for free, its quite dangerous if you are not on top of it and has caused quite a few accidents, they claim to have resolved it now but the new BJ looks the same as the SX/SY variant just slightly chunkier time will tell if its a fix or not

The headlight switch which breaks randomly usually at night should be recalled as well but its not, its a massive design flaw as there is not enough room for a decent protected wire so they use the crappiest thin one which is loose and moves with the blinker movement and over time breaks, so you are driving along press your blinker and wham no lights.

As for holden rebadging Dawoos its just stupidity they pioneered the euro import only to dump it after Ford copied them and decided to go down this route and compete with Hyundai, If I was going Korean I would get a Kia over the Captiva.

And dont get me wrong with the Terry its a awesome car, best SUV this side of $100k if you ask me with a proper power split none of this FWD BS which is 95% there just the finish and tiightarse silly decisions soured it a bit.

The first thing that came to my find when I found the article was a medium actually doing a write-up on a Holden recall. As opposed to reminding the public how horrible Ford is.

I figured something as rare as that worthy of a thread. Oh well, you know what they say about the best intentions...
