Hi, i have recently bought a 68 XT which i am restoring, it has a pretty worked 302 in it.
I am trying to work out what heads it has on it. I was told they were 4v. since the engine has been just rebuilt, I am reluctant to take the heads off to find the casting marks. on the top between the rockers it says 302 and on the other flat where it usually says 2v or 4v it just has the letter B. can anyone help me with identifying them or is there any other way to tell without removing the heads. Thanks, Adam |

Could this thread be of any help to you?
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=88005 Taken from another website---- "You can identify the 2V, 4V and M heads while the engine is still in the car. Cast into the head (raised) is either a "2", a "4" or an "M". These are located on the valve-side of the head (not the block side) near the intake (not the exhaust ports) in the upper left corner. This means that as you stand on the driver's side of the engine (US steering) and look at the head through the AC crapola, just above the valve cover on the left end of the head, you will see the marking. (This would be easier to explain if I had a picture. Perhaps I'll get one.)"
