The other night I caught a snippet on the news or one of those rubbish shows ACA,today tonight etc, anyway there was this piece about this young tool that had crashed his scummydore into a tele pole at an estimated minimum speed of 160km/h(debis strewn 100m up the road).
The parents, when asked what they believed contibuted to the accident didnt mention "maybe the road wasn't up to scratch" or "maybe the tyres were a little bald" or not even "he was driving to fast" oh no no no the reason he had to be scraped up off the rd was because lewis hamilton did a burnout the other night. even our own mark webber copped a spray from them because he laughed about what LH did in an interview. The twit journalists that allow this crap to go to air should be shot, I know that the hoon storys are making cash for the media at the moment but seriously they need to be a bit fair dinkum about it.

I know this from personal experience where ACA interviewed me last year about work; for some reason they never put me or the story to air. The reason was that I wouldn't be lead by their questions and pretty much disputed every question they asked me. They apparently had a whistleblower who it turned out had a major grudge, his interview was tainted when they found out he was a union delegate. That was over 6 months ago.

Victoria is heading for its worst road toll in more than five years, with five people killed in accidents at the weekend. Four of the five smashes involved speed, with one 19-year-old P-plater dying after he drove into a pole at 160kmh in an 80kmh zone near Geelong early on Sunday. Deputy Commissioner Ken Lay said young man's passengers - a 14-year-old girl and two 19-year-old men - were lucky to survive the crash on Anakie Road, at Lovely Banks. "We had a 20-year police veteran at the scene who described it as the worst crash he'd ever seen," he told reporters in Melbourne on Sunday. "(Driving at) 160 in an 80km zone, look, there is only going to be one result, particularly when you put inexperience into the mix. "This is the third crash this year involving a young P-plate driver driving at extremely high speeds." The girl and one of the men, both seriously injured, were airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital. The other passenger, who was thrown from the car, was taken to Geelong Hospital with minor injuries.

You really have to be concerned when its obvious the parents are just as stupid as the kid drving, how can they not see it was his own stupid actions which caused the accident! :

Unfortunately for him and his family unlike most of us he won't have the chance to look back and think "geez I was a bit of a fool back then" because he messed it up and paid a very heavy price, one that he did not deserve. In that interview I did not hear his father blame the road, he made comment that the road invites you to put the foot down, as many many roads do. Unfortunately the kid couldn't resist the temptation. His father said he was a good kid, whether or not that is true is not the point. To them he was and that is all that matters, to us he is another unfortunate statistic.

I was refering to what I saw on the tv only, no doubt between the tv interview and mondays radio interview the parents had a bit more time to refine their comments while dealing with grief I can only imagine from a tradjedy that should never have happened.

If its the father im thinking of , he gave L.Hamiliton a spray about his behavour in public because it encourages young drivers to do the same.... to be a twat on the road.
ACA have a poor record when it comes to interviewing people/ topics, but the interview I saw of him was not on ACA.

Sadly we live in a world, where it's standard practice to look for someone to blame.

While I can’t stand Eddie Maguire, he makes a few good points here. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/opinion/...849297914#page I have added to the comments page, but they may not add it to the site. My 2 cents below. Quote:

With those tv shows they edit out a lot and twist the story .
They have been known to change the answers for instance they have asked a question they dont get the answer they want then ask a different question to get the answer they want. They then edit the second answer into the clip to look like its the actual answer to the first question |

I have to admit I was a danger on the roads sometimes, when I first got my licence. I even overtook what turned out to be an undercover cop car at 130kp/h in an 80 zone. Thankfully they had no proof of my speed and let me off, that didn't deter me though. I raced a guy down Fremantle road in Gosnells, was pushing 180, then had to pull up as the boom gates went down. I took my mums EL up to 165km on Tonkin Highway, thankfully I had a concience and backed off, so when I got flashed I was doing 109 in a 100 zone but for me it was still 19km over (P plates), mum took the fine. I was always doing burnouts. All these incidents where I could have died or killed someone innocent and not once did I care. My stupidity only stopped the day I lost my licence doing 160 along the Kenwick link. Since then (9yrs) I have not lost a single demerit point due to speed or stupid driving.
All I am saying in the end I relate to why these guys keep going till they die or kill someone else, pity that some of them don't even stop after losing their licence or worse. |

The thing is, we all knew a "Shane", or several "Shane's" when we first started driving. All the ones I knew all survived unscathed and never hurt anyone else either but that was sheer dumb luck!! I was a "Shane" myself. Eddie Maguire's comments about boredom and social disconnection resonated with me and took me straight back to 30 years ago living in a rural area and being bored out of my brain. Growing up in the bush unless you were into football, cricket or drinking copious quantities of alcohol there was nothing for you!! Cars, and driving them dangerously relieved my absolute boredom. I had a bad reputation around town and drove my parents mad. I was a "Shane" who woke up to myself before I ran out of luck. The best thing I ever did was leave town and move to Melbourne. No amount of laws and law enforcement will prevent this behaviour. All speed cameras do is make criminals of normal everyday people and will do nothing to stop the "Shane's" of this world. All we can hope for is they have an epiphany and come to their senses. My youngest step son has just got his first car and I'm trying to drum into him good road sense. One of his mates is a bit of a worry but luckily most of his friends are pretty level headed so the old peer group pressure thing is less likely to be a factor. How hard it is trying to tell your kids not to do the very things you did!! BTW, I can't stand Eddie Maguire either!! : :
