Default Sandown Historic 2009 pics. “Warning large files”

Here’s a few pics from Saturday at Sandown. I spent most of the day at the Roaring Forties stand and the cars on display attracted a great deal of interest. My engine was on display in an RF chassis that was assembled for the show to give people who don’t usually see what these things look like as a bare chassis.

It was a great privilege to have Sir Jack Brabham come over and check the car out. He was more than pleased with what we had on display and how the latest technology was put into these cars.

John Bowe was driving Iain Pretty’s RF GT 40 race car that was brought down from Sydney for the event. This car is a mega dollar build up and is very quick. I’ll have more pics of it tomorrow.

Enjoy the pics.

Cheers

Some very nice machinery there, even an extra bonus of the trailered Alfa GTA.. No, am I blind? It's a GTV in the background of one of the shots of a pewter 'GT40'.

EDIT: Oh beaut, there's more comin. Fair bit of history gathering there, got any words to accompany?

Some quick gear in the car park too.

I’ll have a few more pics to post up when it’s all finished tomorrow.

Cheers

G’day Cam,
Some of those Toranas are a work of art. It still puts a chill down your spine when you see these things revved in anger.

I’ll have more pics of Iain Pretty’s RF GT 40 today and hopefully get a few of it when John Bowe gets it out on the track.

I’ll also try and get more pics of the cars that I missed yesterday.

You should have been down there. I’m sure a few of the blokes could use a man of your talent.

If anyone wants hi res pics, just shoot me a PM with the pic in it and your e-mail address and I’ll do my best to get them out in a timely fashion.

Cheers

Here’s a few details of the car.

I have plenty of pics from today, it’s just going to take me a while to upload them.

Sunday at Sandown.

John Bowe getting ready for the top speed comparison run in Iain Pretty’s RF GT 40. This car would most likely be the fastest one in the country and was unbelievable to watch when JB was driving it the way it was meant to be driven.

A few up close and personal shots while putting it in the truck.

G’day Spanrz,
I’ve been out of the trade since 1990 and driving trucks since then, so it wasn’t me. Obviously diesel mechanics have good taste in cars. :hihi:

The driver had to pull Godzilla out first. Another awesome bit of gear.

Really good day but damn was it hot, some great cars around, I even walked away half liking those VL Grp A's.
