Hyundai are getting better and better as the years go by. I really like the look of the new Sonata. If the previous model is anything to go by, this one should be a pretty good car. I hope they fit a V6 in it as there was no mentioned about it in the article.

No thanks, overdone by a fair margin IMO. Mr Hardware - the AU didn't really have a low roofline or that high a waistline however...

yeah outback you're right on the waistline, its actually rather low isn't it - but roofline was rather curved, and it sloped juuust a little too much at the rear for easy ingress/egress.

My wife drives a dark grey metallic 2002 Sonata V6. It has moonroof, rear spoiler and alloys. People always comment how upmarket and European it looks. I think the Genesis sedan looks fantastic.

Wow, that's some serious power loss with the 2.0L LPG engine - 121kW / 198Nm for the petrol model and only 105kW / 189Nm for LPG. Mixer-based system???

Dave

I doubt the blokes at VW would be very happy, those pics look very much like the Passat CC (which I might add I quite like too).

You wouldnt be a Hyundai salesmen would you??
haha
It is a nice car
I think they started hitting the right notes when they brought out the i30, which with the sports kit looks quite attractive.
I'd go for the new coupe they are making.

Looks like the ugly Camry based Lexus ES300 from the front. The other views are a fair bit better.

The interior looks about as upmarket as the FG Falcon interior. Ie looks good.

It's not too bad. I don't particularly like the taillights or that line across the doors.

The interior is very impressive though.

If the build quality is up to a good standard then it would be a good alternative for people looking for a medium size car. Just have to get over the fact it's a Hyundai

Not jumping on you here, however, last I heard their best seller is a suicide machine with no looks, at 11K brand new, that people willingly flush their money down the toilet to. Just another parasite in the car market, in my eyes, feeding on people that compromise integral points in their own safety on the roads by jumping into these contraptions. Partly sad though, at least we can gather these people truly do not value their own lives by buying these 'cars'.

Can't say I'm sold on what I've seen and read about this new abysmal horror of a car, either. It looks like the Camry's cousin.

There is some truth to what your saying, and thats the image hyundai will struggle to get ride of. But one hyundai is already starting to change it and thats the i30. You just have to look at the massive change hyundai has had in america with there genesis range, the genesis sedan even won one of americas top car awards. With this new sonata, plus the ix35 suv and the possiblity of genesis coupe coming here. I truly think hyundai has finally come of age.

You may rubbish Hyundai as much as you want, I for one think it's a nice looking car and feel the need to remind people that Hyundai are one of the few manufacturers to INCREASE production in the last 12 months. There is a genuine reason why Toyota are scared of Hyundai......
