Default 1 up for ford used sales

SO i had a few issues with the service department at my ford dealer.

They refused to fix fault under used car warranty stating they couldnt find fault.

SO i thought Id bulls**t the dealer the same whay they bulls**t us.

i basically said i had no issues with him and wanted to buy another car for the missus from him the only thing holding me back was the treatment i got from the service department. Then i said very deliberatly and very off hand "these guys are costing you money"

Unsuprisingly 2 days later i get a call from the Service manager asking what the issue was. so i explained some of the issues with the car. and the car gets booked in for today (14/7/09).

SO i go and drop it off this morning and give the service advisor my printed out list of faults. he says "theres a few on this list i dont have on the booking sheet, we'll call you in the LIKELY case we probably cant do it."

So i gave him the keys and pottered over to the Used cars section looking at FPV's (phoons and GT's) to kill time while i waited for a bus to get home. 5 minutes later the service advisor walks over to used cars saying that the service deptartment wouldnt fix these issues. (at this point im hiding behind a GT-P trying to listen in) 4 used sales guys then turned round and said "well if you had done it right the first time as arranged b4 the pick up of the car we wouldnt have this problem" the service guy fired up and a shouting match began the young sales guy (about 22) that sold me the car said in an elevated voice "look mate, this guys 18, payed thru the nose and its his pride and joy, so just fix it" :

Its good to see the ford sales guys fighting in my corner. Hopefully shes all fixed later on today.

P.s bit long winded but hey

Did you buy from jarvis on south road tonsley? They sometimes have arguments there between staff. I remember one time I looked at a fairlane with the 3v motor, and the sales guy said it was a 5l pushrod engine. Service guys came out and stated it was clearly a 3v 5.4 motor. Argument ensued and I walked off after a bit, it got a little boring!

Can a mod edit my post to protect the identity of the car dealer? Didn't mean to name drop.

Good tip, whether its new car servicing issue, or used car, go into the dealership (new car) and state your looking for a new car, either one for the missus, or an upgrade for yourself. Then tell them your not really looking for 2 - 4 months and your having an issue with your current car, politely suggest that i would like to spend your money with them, but the service is crap and you wont be bringing your money back here until your other one gets sorted. (try to speak to the head guy)

Within 2 weeks you'll get a phone call that you should bring your car in to get whatever it is fixed. Guarenteed.

This thread should be brought to the attention of Marin Burela and the likes. Having to do what you did for warranty service is pretty poor form and from what I've read on here, it sounds like that sort of behaviour is the norm at Ford dealer service centres.

It needs to change.

Sad, that this has to be done. Email Ford with what you had to do. The only way to fix these endemic problems is to let them know and hopefully that goes up the chain to someone like Marin Burela.

Email the customer service department. I'd imagine, that if his name (Burela) is mentioned then somebody like an assistant or better would probably be required to have a look at it (depending on their quality assurance protocols).

Worth a shot. This is the sort of stuff that needs to be changed. Who better to direct it to?
