Default Famous & Infamous Fords - Where Are They Now?

G'day punters,

The aim of this thread to try and track down or find out what happen to some
of Australia's more famous or infamous Fords.

These cars aren't racecars or well known showcars/magazine feature cars.

They may have had famous or infamous owners or have been at sometime
driven by a famous or infamous person/s.
Perhaps they featured prominently in news reports or TV shows.

So here we go,

MIA FORD No. 1

Anyone know of the whereabouts of an FC LTD once owned by Christopher Dale Flannery?
When Chris "Mr Rent-A-Kill" Flannery was brought up to Sydney by George Freedman,
he bought himself a gold FC LTD. It may or may not have been a Cartier Edition.

This car narrowly avoided machine gun fire when Chris and his family were fired
upon after returning from an outing.

In the mini-series Blue Murder, it is depicted that Chris' LTD would not start one afternoon.
He is then picked up by some men in an XF Falcon and never seen again.

No. 2

Does anybody know the where-abouts of the P6 LTD Wheels Magazine had then
Prime Minister Malcom Fraser test drive?

IIRC, Mal was not impressed by Ford's new flagship at the time.
However this is an interesting piece of Ford Aus history and it would be nice to know if it still roams the roads.

Needle in a haystack, especially because neither car is really significant in terms of history really, not like a famous racecar or showcar like a Moffat Falcon or Bill Bourke XW.

In a recent wheels magazine they got him to test drive the last LTD in a bit of a historical article. I don't remember reading that he didn't like the P6.

December 1976 and July 2008 were the issues if you're interested.

Have a read of the 2008 one here if you're interested

does this include special "one-off" cars (special options - e.g colour etc.)?

I know of 2 EF XR6 sedans that were over here, I owned one that was used for a magazine although I never did find the article. I sold it a few months ago and it is now living in Oswestry. Last I heard of the other it was up in Edinburgh.

I saw one of the famous 25 mark one Escorts with mark two running gear (e.g 2 litre engines). It had been stored away.

About 237kmh I think. (it was an auto GT) About the same speed they got for an ED XR8 Sprint a few years earlier.

The stunt double Mad Max coupe usually sits out front of the Silverton Hotel in Silverton 25 kms west of Broken Hill. It was there when I went through at 2.30pm yesterday. Disappointedly someone has keyed the left hand side, no respect.

Its funny because after you said that I had a look on Google maps to see exactly where Silverton is, and on Google street view you can see the Black Coupe parked there in front of the Pub!
