it's pretty cheap if we compare it to the global prices, it is inevitable that the prices will top $2.00/L in the next year. I might start importing scooters, thats the only vehicle people will be willing to buy when fuel is simply too expensive.

The reason why i bought a bike to go to and from work... 20 bucks to fill, which goes 250km.

I'm paying 1.08 for LPG, which is about 70 bucks to fill the tank. That gets me around 500km, a work mate has a Hyundai Accent shitebox, gets the same mileage, but costs $80 to fill lol.

Wow, I'll stop complaining now... Todays record fuel price was reported at $1.53/L.

It's normally about $1.38 to $1.44/L for 91 and 62.5c/L of LPG.

I'm so glad I chose to install LPG, $30 a week I'm laughing (Perhaps laughing because there is a slight gas leak mmmmm...) :

Ahhh yes but people keep forgetting something important - places like NZ and Great Britain don't have such vast distances between most places!

Petrol may be very expensive in NZ but hey, at least you don't have such a sparsely populated flat piece of turf like we do over here

When petrol finally gets too expensive for the average joe, Australia is screwed.

Although, Americans are currently paying between $3.30 and $3.50 USD per US Gallon - works out something like 80 to 90 cents US a litre - less than $1 AUD per litre!!!! :

I was speaking to a person i know who owns a servo, its truly stagering how much we pay in taxes on fuels..

if the figures he told me are even close to accurate, we shold be ashamed for allowing the gvt. to do what it has..

Don't we still pay a tax on a tax for fuel? That is, we pay excise AND gst for fuel?

Thank johnny for that!

Wow thats amazing the price the americans pay,i saw on the news one night the price per litre broken down and where it all goes,it was amazing to see how much the oil companies still manage to squeeze the crap out of us consumers and smile with their enormous profits.

petrol prices here in the uk is 6 pournds sterling per gallon. not a lot for your hard-earned money.

being as we helped out 'BUSH' and opened ourselves up to a lifetime of terrorist attacks.- he can't even be bothered to give us discount on oil. (even though they're eating it up as if there's no tomorrow)

maybe someone should mention the 'kyoto agreement' to him.

1.68 in my town for ultimate.
1.43 for ULP.
We have the highest petrol prices in the state last year for a city, officially worst nightclub in Victoria and 3rd worst in Australia, Very tight police who 'randomly' pull over anyone with a P plate (very inconvienient) and our partys always get pinned.
I love my town, FTW...

I was recently in NZ and noticed there fuel prices were about the same whether in the city or in the country, but here in Aus. we have to pay more in the country.
They call it cartage costs over here but they don't seem to have that cost in the land of the long white feather. :

Actually in QLD I have seen prices outside of town sometimes cheaper than the big smoke! :

But even funnier is last week when the prices went ballistic I found regular ULP for 128.9 at a Mobil. But in the same suburb not more than 1.5 km away at a BP it was going for 148.9!!!

This is true but slightly worse as we are actually taxed 3 times by the time we walk out the door:

-We get taxed in our pay packet on our normal income tax rates then
-We have to pay Goods and Service Tax (GST) on the fuel and
-We also have to pay a fuel excise tax

So all in all, out of the humble $1, we are only getting about 20c on petrol to use relatively speaking,
