Default Bulking up

Being 5ft 9" and weighing about 60kg makes me....small.

My problem with this is that people try to use their size to intimidate me. And I don't like it.

I can't afford weights or have the room to put them anywhere.

So does anybody have any solutions/fitness ideas etc?

lots of maccas lol....i know how you feel, i am about the same height and weight, but nobody tries to push me around tho....nothing helps me put on weight either, too fast metabolism, food just disappears

I was 5'8 57kg when I was 20. I started on a 3 month program I found on the net and put on 7 kg in about 2 months. The gains were more slower after that. Im 23 now and weigh about 75kg same height.

Regardless of your metabolism it can be done.

The trick is in the food. Eat 6 times a day. Dont go longer than 3 hours between meals. Eat big stuff like meat and get a lot of protein. Dont worry about getting a bit of fat on you because you have to and it can be burned off after your at the weight you want.

Join the gym and be dedicated. The program I did only required me to go 3 times a week. Creatine can help.

I started off at 56kg and i'm 6 ft, i'm at 67kg now after a few months of going to gym the right way...You really need to eat ALOT and get some weight gainer and creatine all those things help, but you can't rely on them. I know how you feel, but keep at it and you will gain weight/bulk up, you just need to be serious about it, the first few months I went, I didn't even take any supplements at all, and ate how I normally did, and it wasn't working out at all, so make sure you get the right stuff and eat right.

70% will be how much/what food you eat and 30% will be the supplements you take.

Dumb bells arent expensive, and take up bugger all room. Pretty much anything can be done with dumb bells and they even work stabiliser muscles a longbar doesnt. Dont bother pouring money into weight gainer etc, just eat good food. About the only thing I would recommend if anything is whey powder for the large number of amino acids in it (its heaps cheaper than the creatine etc crap from over priced health food/gym junkie stores too, its available in Woolies), but you dont need it if you eat well, your body will produce amino acids from the food.


Pushups
Dips
Chin ups

Lots of em. Youll be surprised how well the old fashioned stuff works.

i was a pencil neck, years ago being 6' 2" and only 12 stone (around 80k's). it does all depend on your age and your metabolism. for instance a person finds it easier to put on muscle bulk after the age of 21.

if you can get to a gym, that would be great. but we know how expensive that can be and sometimes i am even intimidated in the gym.

the powerlifting movements would be ideal, such as the bench press, squat and deadlift, but get someone to show you the correct technique- or you will get injured.

keep your routine simple and if you only did these three movements say squat on monday, bench on wednesday and deadlift on friday. with the whole weekend to recover.

you do not build muscle in the gym- you break it down. you build muscle when you're resting, sleeping and eating.

a good sound diet is all you need.

if you can't get to the gym use your own bodyweight (plyometrics) such as pushups, pull ups, jump squats.

You have the world at your fingertips with the internet - surf, read and learn and then act.
Bodyweight exercises can be demanding enough - try squats, chins, pushups, pullups, lunges, etc. If you can do those and follow torxteer's advice you'll grow - but you have to act on the knowledge you gain and be willing to work hard to obtain your goals - sitting back whinging about how small you are (not that you are) isn't going to help.

I was in the same boat mate (kinda still am)
I studied my *** off about bulking up.
The best thing that encouraged me was the thought that since I was was thin I had no fat to lose so I had the potential to gain mass muscle and gain weight QUICKLY!
If you dont feel like eating....Eat! I ate 5 meals a day (an apple or muesli bar is a meal) Potatoes, pasta, rice, milk, fruit, nuts, cottage cheese and Turky was my favourit "bulk up" staples.
I hit the home gym every day for half an hour. I worked out different body parts ever day with sunday off.

And dont forget the protien!!
DRINK THIS!-
couple of heaped tablespoons of protien powder
one egg
couple of table spoons of skim milk powder
1 banana
2 cups of milk
and shake/mix well.

I had up to 4 a day of these shakes and along with my meals and weights I gained 20kgs in 3 months!! I kid you not. people just could not believe how quiclky I was bulking out by the week.
Make sure you study up so you know what your doing to your body and how not to hurt it before jumping strait into it.

you dont need weights to gain size, your own weight is sufficient, pull-ups, military presses, seated dips, standing calf raises, running in sand, push-ups, sit-ups. bro the list is endlessto what you can do without heading to a gym or buying weights. add some more protein to your diet (be careful not to get a protein powder thats just full of sugar or artificial sugar) and for a quick way to size add some L-glutamine and creating to your diet as well.
but remember its all in the mind, if you think your small you will stay small, as gay is it may sound cut out a picture of a body type youd like to be similar to, cut out a picture of your head and paste it onto the cutout body. imagine yourself every chance you have, every morning etc that youve got a killer physique. guarantee you if you have a good diet, mental attitude and good workout schedule, youll get your desired results.

Seriously though, it's good to have a representation of your goals clearly visible to keep you focussed, just keep in mind your body type and realistic visions when doing this. No matter how positive you are, you won't look like Arnie if you're starting as an ectomorph who's 5'4".

i am 6"2 and when i started uni at 18 i weighted 60kg's i was a stick figure, during uni i put on over 20kg and now 5yrs out of uni weigh closer to 90kg, i have a bit of a keg now though :

and i havent really done any gym training, but i was once told by a personal trainer mate to eat heaps of high protein foods like chicken, fish, eggs etc, and do heaps of push ups and sit ups. Push ups will work the muscles and then the proteins build them up, eating fatty foods will bulk you up but in the wrong way.

mate that was thin! im 6"3 and weighed 84kg and people always called me a rake

tell me about it, my cheek bones stuck out a mile, there wasnt much to me, i have a bit of a gut at the moment that i wouldnt mind getting rid of but if i try and loose it the weight comes off other areas and makes me look like a stick.

The only real way to bulk up is to study and get invloved with what you eat, don't just eat anything and think it will happen, I suggest you sit down and work out a daily meal exercise, work out how many calories you need for a day, and then focus more on your carb and fat intake to help you put on weight, but when I say Carb and fat's, I mean you need to do your homework and eat good complex carb's and good fat's to fuel your daily need's, do not eat crap and fried food that have huge sat fat's and suggar's, study your food and it will all come to you, but don't be affraid to eat fat, you need it to fuel you throughout the day, espeically if you have a fast metabolism, eat a suffecient amount off protien but don't focus to much on this if you arn't trainning often, any excess protien will only convert to and be stored as fat in your body, but it all depends on what you put in your mouth, and enjoy what you do and eat, I went from 68kg to 98kg by eating and studing what I eat, I also train alot and do weightlifting which will help but just by eating right you will gain weight.

7 time mr olypia ronnie coleman says every one want to be a body builder but no one want to lift heavy *** weights

weights are ur only solution using body weight like pushups will not get u very far . just save up and lift some iron good luck try this site bodybuilding.com id link it but im not so computer savy good luck

I'm the same....20 years old and weight like 55kg.

I've tried everything. I've been on 6 meals a day and I gain a kilo if that.

And to be honest, it really gets me down, I just wish I could be just a bit bigger.

I was 5"10 and 59kg few years ago, I bought a bench for $140 and some weights, it's not a massive amount of money considering how much you use it. I started only benching 20kg now I can do 80+ and weigh 64kg now.

Probably the best thing I ever bought. You notice how people start leaving you alone at parties once you get the pecks showing through your shirt and the veins popping out your arms lol.

So yeah, just save a little bit or ask for an early b'day present and you can leave the bench in your back yard, doesn't have to be inside.
I find personaly when you're doing things off your own body weight (no weights) you lose motivation quickly.

a few years back I was the same height & 80kgs. lots of protein & weight lifting added the bulk for me

Ive started training with my boss after a 3month layoff from the gym. We pound out about 60-70 reps in 20minutes of training and we are done. After a week I can already see some results. You dont have to spend hours in the gym to get results. Its all about how you train, what you eat and rest, rest and more rest.

Just train hard and smart.

Eat well and the bulk will come, lift heavy weights (work up to this, not straight away), just full body exercises, squats, deadlifts and bench.

Im 6"3, and only weighed 75kgs when I was younger, but now I'm 102kgs, and im not fat.

Just train smart and eat well, theres no quick fix to it, also use free weights and stay away from machines.

Gaining weight is easy

I was 17 in year 12 in 2004 5ft 11" weighted 83kgs, stressed out no girlfried living at home and no licence bugger all money. Finished year 12, started full time work, got my licence, got a girlfriend, left home & maybe with some take away help still 5ft 11" now 97kgs and noticably as any family member that hasn't seen me for a while point out. I'm not proud of that but it's how the cookie has crumbled.

But like everyone else has said if you want muscle work out.
If you want fat start to like hamburgers (one of my vices)
