Best Guard dogs ever, fairly easy to train and very obedient I have had 3 and they are the best dogs i have ever had. So So Smart and so loyal...Gee I miss them. Also not agressive unless trained that way, and really become a part of the family.

My missus taught our girl to speak in 10 mins the other day, I went to shop to get something by the time I got back she was speaking, pretty cool.

Our boy is smart to, he waves and everything.

a recent study found that mixed breed/mongrel dogs were found to be much more intelligent than pure bred breeds.

Im afraid I would have to change that list around a bit ........ Cattle dog should be No.1, closely followed by kelpie and then foxies. Thats if were talking working dogs ........ No there isnt a mistake, we have foxies here that will work stock all day & is more intelligent and willing than most larger dogs (except my others here :P )

If the cattle dog is crossed with the kelpie, even better

it doesn't help that we had them as pets when we were kids, my old man was in the air force/navy police for 22 years and did a stint as dog handler/trainer.

its funny, i wonder why we never had a break in with those dogs? :

my current doberman isn't as trained as our previous ones (dad passed away when he was still training her) but i wouldn't mess with her if i was a theif.

Mine was bought originally to assist me with security work, but never had the training, i dont use him anymore obviously, but sooooooo loyal, and as you said, youll never get a break in with a doberman!

Agreed loved my Kelpie cross super smart and everyone that meet him said he was the best train dog they had seen

yeah i put put kelpie hi on the smart and good working dogs as they will run all day if have too and smart as too we taught our to go to the toilet outside, sit, lie, and shanke in bout 2 weeks and we still teach her new tricks and she pick them up in a day or so
our is a red cloud kelpie too with a good bark so will warn of intrudors

Gees why am I not surprised about the beagles. I can vouch for them not being trainable although god help anyone who touched her kids. We also have the tibetan spaniel which I have found untrainable but a good dog.

We had a dingo staffy cross,talk about smart,used to beat me at poker...

I used to yell at the kids,ya left the bloody gate open again,till I saw this...










He used to climb a ladder on to the roof too...
