5w30 synth oil is good but still change it at 7500 if your keeping the car for many years,
the book says change the oil at 7500 in certain conditions but those conditions are really normal for a territory driver $60 for oil & $10 filter every 7500km is not alot to fork out for longevity of your car anyway in 2 years i'm replacing my Fiesta and Commodore with Terri Ghia and an FG XR6t i can't wait but i need to make some more payments on my Fiesta as I haven't owned it a year yet, bought it for extended trips to work (140km a day) but they transfered me to a new office 8km from my house (the bastards) so don't need a fuel saver anymore

7500 is too soon, you can get AT LEAST 10,000 out of synthetic oil especially on a gas engine where the oils stays clean for a lot longer than diesel/petrol engine.!

Don't be fooled by clean oil in an LPG vehicle ... the higher acidic levels from LPG vehicles breaks oil down just as qick ... it just looks clean.
Replace often for engine longevity .... it's cheap insurance. When I was going courier work I was doing oil every month and filter every 2nd month ... was doing about 5,000km a month in the ute. AWD there are more things to look at ... front diff bushes ... front shaft/CV boot leakage/tearing .... front diff pinion seal leaking. Just par for the course really. The suspension was setup for a sedan for better handling .... and it isn't really built for a vehicle half a tonne heavier than the Falcon. I am still on factory springs at 200,000km .... it did the shocks just after 100,000km .. have done the odd bush here and there ... still on factory diff bushes. $3300 every 130,000km .... hardly bought it ... maybe if you rally drive the thing or you got a lemon. AWD is fun in mud .... although the clean after that is not fun ... hee hee. I have had my 04 TX AWD for 9 years ... bought it new ... still drives brilliantly. AWD 4-speed auto models came with an external transcooler from factory as well ... still plumbs through the radiator though. I have just replaced the factory radiator in the last 6 months now for a thicker unit and still plumb it through it as well. I replaced my battery at 5.5 years old as well. Interior trims in mine are still like new ... I have had 2 power window regs fail though .... and a tailgate actuator. Little things here and there really. As mentioned though .... best car I have owned ever ... nothing out there as versatile for the price really. Awesome visibility along with great rurning circle in tight car parks makes it a cinch to drive. All thanks to the virtual pivot front suspension geometry.

They are a good jigger. A good drive on Aussie roads, hugely practical and relatively cheap to run overall.

We had one. Bought in new in 2005 and did 160,000 k's in it.
Here is what went wrong (or just wore out): Ball joints (warranty) Rear tailgate catch (twice) Diff bushes LOUD diff whine by 140,000 Serpentine belt split Severe rust in engine bay and tailgate (warranty but the rust came back) Disc brake rotors every 60,000 Central locking actuator Rear seat belt clasps broke (two of them) Various broken catches (console, bonnet latch, power socket cobs etc) The engine was a beaut and the car was great to drive. Really practical, loads of room, towed well, comfortable. It was a little fragile though, with lots of annoying broken catches and locks. We sold it and bought a Toyota because the Ford was rusting badly and had rear end issues that it seems no-one could fix.

We bought a Territory Ghia AWD new in 2007. Did 70,000 + km in it including some outback touring ( no real bush bashing though).
Now the list of things we had to replace. 1. Tyres...... 2. 3. Yep. Nothing. Quiet comfortable, easy to drive. Loved it. I'd have another one tomorrow. I was in a Territory taxi recently. 600k+ kms. Still going strong felt tight and rattle free.

We bought a 2008 SY TS RWD 7 Seater a couple months ago, absolutely awesome vehicle. Load up all the kids and away we go, geez it goes pretty hard too (nearly copped a fine by being a bit over enthusiastic on a overtaking lane in the hills). Going from the BA Egas (156kw) to a SY (190kw) sure does surprise me considering its over 2 tonne....

At the moment ... my 200,000km Territory has 10,000km service intervals ... and going on my oil condition, 10,000km was long enough really. I intend on keeping mine for as long as I possibly can. I especially don't like the "sealed-for-life" Ford servicing for automatic transmissions ... life of the factory warranty maybe. But I for one get mine done every 50,000km ... just for longevity/piece of mind. With suspension parts. I did it in stages here and there and the cost really doesn't become an issue. I replaced items with better quality parts, and when doing so those items last longer.
