Hi,
Im about to purchase a 2nd boat, and would just like to know if 2 trailers can be joined together and towed behind? It becomes just like a semi trailer, but still less than 2000kg combined... Whats the way of going about this? Here is one sample I found: But imagine 2 boats... |

In the Us it might be fine but i think you will find over here is a big no no.

AFAIK you can only have max of 1 caravan trailor an 1 normal trailor which can't exceed certain weight in total - not sure on exact rules tried your states rta site? |

It would be illegal because the front most trailer would have to be rated to tow another trailer of up to about 1 tonne and the front most trailer would also need the suspension setup to take the rear trailer weight. Caravans and trailers just aren't built like that here....

Not legal. for a start not many vehicles would be rated to tow the combined weight of the two trailers, B-doubles require a seperate licence, so in short NO WAY.

I dont think it would be legal, have you seen just the nomal people trying to reverse a 6 by 4 trailor at the local tip lately :eclipsee_
And if you try this, i am sure the cops or the RTA will stick it up ya  :

Your rig is now effectively a multi-combination vehicle, "a B-Double" so it if you dont have that license then it would have to be illegal to drive it

Umm well for my 2 cents worth... i hope you have got good brakes!!!!
But it is meant to be illegal, and i'm sure will exceed the towing capacity of your vehicle anyway!!! Even guys with B-double licenses would look at this thread and laugh... there is quite a difference between 2 trailers and a b-double setup....

as the NRMA rule 2 states no way totally illegal and i can assure you its illegal in all other states to,and no a b double licence wont save you

Sell the caravan and the big mofo F-truck.
Buy a campervan and put solid roof racks on it. Lash the dinghy to the roof racks upside down. And finally tow the new 16-20 foot cruiser behind the campervan.. About the only legal option out there i fink. |
