Likely. They threw a lot of money into Sth America and China and are losing there big time, and withdrew from the rest of the world outside of those and Nth America.

Mary Barra seems useless - when trump was in GM was favouring that administrations policies, now Biden is in suddenly they forgot everything they said or stood for and now have an electric policy. Blowing in the wind with no true and real direction or policies.
They should have invested earlier before China ate their sales up and is now going to dominate the electric car industry anyway.

They are going bust, that is true, but I guarantee this statement is looking for government funding to switch, so nothing more than rearranging deck chairs on a sinking ship and going after government funding again.

In the US socialism is wanting responsible government with policies on health and environment, like gov funded healthcare that the rest of the western world has, apparently that's wrong and socialism is a dirty word.
Can't support the people or build for the future - that's bad socialism. But bailing out GM and banks etc is OK?
The US rich upper class elite who just want more profit and don't care about you, so what is wrong with the government spending more money on the people and less on the corporations?

Maybe time for Reddit's 'WallStreetBets' community to pump up the stock price of GM against the hedge funds

Are there any decent automotive industry CEO's? They all seems like wacky waving arm inflatable tube men (and women) that deflate at the first sign of troubled waters and bail.

Sign of a troubled and dying industry. I don't think anyone could save the big three, (or the troubled ones like mits and nissan), and it's about time whoever 'wins' musical chairs at the position to stop getting paid so much to fill a seat and do nothing but cut backs while grifting.

True leaders and visionaries won't get that seat at an automotive company any time soon because they don't see a future in the industry, only yes men and conservatives think there must be a way to fix it, because they don't see the world with young people not buying cars due to costs, housing density, licences, full time employment at a decent wage and housing affordability issues.

Oh well, better they flop about and disappear rather than grift and whinge like qantas' Joyce does for a living and refuses to go away.
