Here's an old Ford

Stumbled across some old photos of my old man who was a Mountie in the Kimberleys in the 1950s. This was in Halls Creek.
From a bit of Googling I think it's a 1940 Ford Coupe ute with a flatty, would love to have it now.

Looks more like a '39 grille, but it could be a '40 Standard instead of Deluxe (they used the previous year's grille).

I'll take your word for it, I looked at a 39 and the headlights were closer to the grille whereas the 40 seemed to be wider apart.

I'd be guessing a 1940, looking at the angled headlight surrounds. I'd also be guessing that it's got a non-stock, homemade grille?

Yeah, the grill isn't stock. My guess is the open squares is to get better air flow to stop over heating.

Definitely a 1940 model. 1939 Fords had the windscreen wipers mounted on top of the windscreen as it was the last year of wind out windscreens. 1940 was also the first year of quarter vent windows. 1940 was also the first year of column shift transmission and they also changed the wheel bolt pattern.

Horse mounted Police, he would go bush for weeks at a time with 2 black trackers, camels loaded with supplies armed to the teeth with rifle, shotgun and a handgun.
Then in about 1960 he got issued a Land Rover, happy days.
