Had the exact same problem when I had my ED Futura. Borrowed a plasterboard trailer from Bunnings to cart some timber home and ever since then I encountered the very same problem you are experiencing. Never did find out why it did it. I ended up trading it in for a EL Fairmont wagon.

found fault the wire assembly is in the boot (installers too lazy to attach underneath) a teenager had taken trailer off to push it down drive as friend couldnt reverse trailer (female) then the friend didnt double check the trailer before driving off (still female) and i think the cord was too short hanging out of boot and when cornering it found the weakspot the plug on the car and ya all bar 2 wires snapped (females and trailers dont go together) thanx for all the help cheers to all

cruise control fault was fixed after replacing the clock spring at a wasted cost of 330 to find no difference it was finally fixed by replacing the actual horn/airbag piece on steering wheel 40 from wreckers
cheers
