It mut be pointed out that there is nothing exclusive about a 3series or C Class, they are nothing more than a German Mazda 6. their base model spec in the current and past series and Euro/US price tag reflects this.
I am well aware of the general shortcomings of the E60 as compared to an equivalent E39. However the differences between those two models are infinitesimal compared to the cars we tested today. And you are right, there is nothing exclusive about a 3series or a C-class.

Skoda is a better-built and more reliable VW with more room inside and more practical. There's nothing wrong with modern Skodas except any inferior VW bits that VAG forces them to use. Being owned by VAG is a two-edged sword. The basic FWD platform is excellent.

Octavia is on a Golf platform. Equivalent to Passat is Superb but Superb is bigger inside. It's a no brainer choosing a Skoda over a VW.
