And yet both amg and Volvo don't think their image requires the v8supercars bogan mantra in the mix with their names. Ability to sell cars here isn't the only thing they weigh up.

Volvo's decision is much bigger than V8 Supercars (i believe they'll be still in V8 Supercars much longer than their "home" series)

We can all agree that the new Ford Performance division have certainly delivered exciting performance cars. Love both the new Mustang GT350/R along with the new Ford GT. Cant wait for the new GT500.

You’re correct about AMG.

Mercedes-Benz certainly doesn’t believe the V8 Supercars does any good for the AMG brand image and is very unhappy the E Class lookalike is being raced by a privateer.

Dealership surveys show their costumers don’t associate with V8 supercars and at best see it as the bogan series of motorsport.

Erebus pays AMG for all the technical input required to compete in the V8’s, it’s not offered free of charge.

And this is the reason the cars are referred to as Erebus and not Mercedes-Benz.

As a side note, Mercedes will admit they have a history of only competing in motorsport series where it has a chance of winning and it must add prestige to the brand name.

No Mercedes subsidiary can race anywhere in the world without the parent company’s approval and if it meets the above requirements then they throw all their technical expertise at achieving success.

Mustang is not a competitor of AMG, and why would it be, they are completely different animals.

AMG owners around the world may own Mustangs but that is because they love performance cars and their garages will often have numerous brands behind their doors.

Though in truth, AMG owners traditionally are more likely to have a Porsche as a second or weekend or track car.

And as a further note, that Mustang is hot and it's disheartening to think it won't arrive here where it can become another Ford hero car.

What about the new GT super car they unveiled, over 600hp from a 3.5L V6. Yep no V8 in this baby.

AMG doesnt like it because they arnt winning.
There are reports out there that their engineers are completely flummoxed over the fact that 50yo pushrod lumps are more powerful than their engines.

Mercedes performed very poorly in DTM this past season, also.

At last the rear brake calipers match with the front calipers.

Purely from a looks point of view it's a pet hate of mine where there is one brand of brake (Brembo) on the front and another brand (PBR) on the rear.

If I do end up with a Mustang GT I'd be looking to change the rear calipers/rotors.

Love it, amazing car and so good to see Ford embracing their performance division with good old school V8 RWD 2 door beast brushed with modern tech.

The wing looks OK, I think it's the colour that puts people off, maybe a black wing to blend with the stripes etc would look better...

New Mustang styling is spot on imo, even more so with this GT350R. I'll have one in white with navy blue stripes please!

As much as I don’t want to buy a mustang, to teach Ford Australia a lesson for not supporting V8 Supercars, man I love this car. That blue looks very very sweet too; if they price the GT version nicely & have that colour in GT, it will be hard for me to walk away from.

I think you'll find Volvo is of the same mindset after the new head, indicated our sport didn't reflect the image they're after. Some think that's weird with the success they've had.
But I'm sure that will be curbed a little when they sort the aero/weights and other parity issues again. No doubt that really helped Volvo get off to a good start!

Volvo Australia has been very public in the fact that V8 supercars as been a huge success & sales are up as a direct result of their involvement!!
