Angry Parking fine received for parking in private property!

Joy oh joy! Found a ticket on my windscreen for $148. The ticket claimed I was parking in a council controlled area but I was at a fast food establishment which is privately owned. Parking officers cannot fine people on private property can they?

Sure the car park is owned by the fastfood establishment?
Doubt it if they fined you..

Those carparks are only meant to be for people eating at the resaturant not people needing a free spot all day while they are at work, was that the case?

You would have to check the parking signs for the area & who controls them & yes private property owners can contract agencies to control them.

Ring ACA, another story to have.

Best be telling the whole story before having a whinge, how long were you parked there and were you only there to eat,buy junk food and leave,i think not going by the fact you have recieved a ticket.

Well, that was a perfect opportunity missed to tell us who’s carpark it was.

I guess you’re more interested in the thread receiving comments then giving the forum the details where someone may actually be able to give you a valid reason for the infringement notice.

I know private owners can 'invite' parking police to visit their property and enforce restrictions. Maybe Maccas invited this lot and got you?

-Proof that the car park is fully privately owned?
-Why were you parked there, and for how long?

Syndrome PM'd me where he parked. Its council-enforced. Time limits range between 90min to 5hrs depending on where/when.

I'm just gonna make something up.

He was doubled parked in disabled parks for 3 days.

$148 sounds cheap considering.....

Maybe he actually parked IN the fast food establishment. $148 is getting off lightly considering the damage to the fast food restaurant!
