A friend of mine works at Honeywell and is running a special on their Black Box Car Camera. These are good quality Honeywell products (product from Korea, but you are purchasing from Honeywell Australia) and aren't as large (size) as the others around. I have one on my car and it's easy to use. The special is a run out from last year, as they will have an updated model soon. Normal sell price was $249, special price for a limited time $74 (excludes freight).
If you are interested, go to www.honeywellcarcamera.com.au and order online. When you order, enter the code FORD (case sensitive) and the discounted price will apply, until they sell out or stop the discounted price. |

Open the "product details" section for it then near the bottom of that page under "Available Downloads" is an option "Datasheet" to click on.

Will look into this when I get home, the 3 megapixel/640x480 resolution needs clarifying.

Just went through the user manual, it looks as though 640x480 is as good as the video resolution gets. Pass for me.

Anybody know if there is a huge difference in mounting it high vs low??? i.e for tidiness with the wires I was going to mount it low on the windscreen, or will higher up say above/below the rear-view mirror be better for greater vision through the camera??

Hi All,
Firstly, thanks to those who purchased. I am sure you will be happy with the unit as I have been for a while now. Just to make couple of comments on some of the threads: Yes - they were $249. These are last years models and due to that, their sales over the past two months have only trickled. Why the large reduction? Just like most manufactures, they receive a back end rebate off 'head office' and also receive approval to liquidate the existing stock. I guess simular to when Sony release a new TV, then you see retailers dramatically reduce existing stock. I did look around before I purchased mine, and I see what's around now; I'm happy with this one as it doesn't look cheap, nor do I want one with an LCD screen that makes my car look like a taxi (only my opinion) Regarding resolution - yes, there are higher resolution units around. I know of someone who has had an accident and they footage was perfect. Whilst 'on paper' the resolution is lower than others around, you cant judge it until you see it for your own eyes. A bit like some televisions where some have higher resolution then others (say a no name brand versus Sony), yet the Sony tele looks better, even though on paper it's not. Memory card size - I get about 6 hours recording with my card. It's enough for me and if I have an accident, I just copy onto my computer. Mounting the unit - I have mine near my rear view mirror. The camera 'body' is concealed behind the extra tint (on top of windscreen), and the camera lens sits just underneath. It gives you the best view. Please also note, I am not receiving any financial or other gain for promoting these units. This is a genuine price reduction on previous years model and I thought it would be nice to show the offer to forum members. I understand there are better models around, but I was happy to purchase from Honeywell (global brand) locally, rather then a brand that I haven't heard of. If anyone does want to see any images from the camera, PM me and I will send some through. Cheerio! |
