Saw this today on my way to work down on the Gold Coast , the trestle's and planks are on saw stools at the back , being a painter myselfe and having loaded those many times i can't believe how stupid and dangerous that was . while i'm at it i might aswell have a whinge about what bugs me when i leave for work at 5 in the morning from the Sunny Coast and head south . To all the tradies in their large utes towing trailer's or the tray fully loaded ADJUST your lights , i drive a Falcon ute and when those things are behind you its like their lights are on high beam , rant over .

Well that's dual cabs for you.
Don't really fit 4 people, useless for carrying anything. Sadly that's all we'll have in the future ![]()

In the right lane also. Probably crawling along like most 4WD utes do in the morning.

A fellow painter, hope business is better up north than it is down here!! I opted a ute for work as i could enjoy driving it rather than a van

Man.. how many painters are on this forum!?
I opted for a work-ute too, a largish one. as the idea of having my legs cut off at the ankles in a minor front ender in a van didn't appeal to me!

Another danger is wheelbarrows...especially when someone has put it upside down sitting nicely on the back of a trayback ute.
Upside down, they actually make the form of a wing and create lift, especially if a bit of air gets under them. I remember maybe fifteen years ago following a ute on the highway and seeing a wheelbarrow gracefully "take off" from the back of the tray and flip onto the highway right in front of me. I braked heavily and managed to avoid it, but the semi behind me crunched straight over it. I make it a point now, whether in a car or on the bike, never to follow builders utes too closely... |

I've had the same experience.
I was watching this barrow lifting now and again and as I was tracing the way the ropes had been tied I realised this thing was not held down. Nek minnit.... I just got in the other lane as it crashed down to the road. Pretty spectacular for anyone watching, lots of sparks! Spent the next few minutes trying to get the ute drivers attention. Gave up when I had to turn off. |

The amount of times I witness un secured loads is not funny. Its as dangerous as talking
on a mobile phone or even more. Heavy fines can be issued but rarely does this happen. Just as bad are trucks spraying sand/gravel with un covered loads. |

Tradies an occy strap wont stop a stepladder spearing forwards in an accident.
the amount in insecure loads I see driving around. But I have no problem with the one in the post above. Provided its tied down properly. it just looks wrong because it not lying flat

Calm down guys, my comment was more about the dual cab pictured in the opening post. That is what this thread is about
![]() Yes I recognise the Ranger is a good size larger and a decent bit of kit ![]() The only dual cab I have spent any time in recently would be a colleagues Triton, which isn't state of the art either and is due for replacement anytime now. But it too still suffers from not knowing whether its a light truck or a passenger car and doesn't do either job well. Which was my point. What works for some of us will not for others, choose what you want/need, what do I care. Personally I prefer my cars to still fit in my garage ![]()

Sounds like you need a bigger garage...
