Progress is a given. I bought a te50t3 in 2002, not thinking that Ford were gonna drop an XR8 with 10 more kw. They did & I was guttered! A povity pack XR8 having more power that an exclusive T series..Horror!!
As it turned out the T3 was much faster, better handling & better resale, than both the XR8 & the GT. But that was progress.
This might be a different case though. As they will have the same driveline,[I think] So the XR8 might well be a keeper.
For me if it turns out the XR8 has 335kw [basic GTs are just XRs with better brakes anyway] Then I'd keep the FG GT, & I really dont think resale value's will fall any faster that they are now.
My 2c worth.

As far as the 375kw power claim, if you turn the cover and read the article, it states that the xr8 will run the same engine tune as the current fpv gt. The 375kw come from the trasient overboost as stated earlier.

Maybe Ford are going to state the actual power figure of the S/C V8 rather than understating it

at least a T3 DOES look special, though. You'd never mistake it for a lesser variant. Can't say that these days...

You can't argue that they made much more of an effort with the Tickford cars though. There really isn't much about an FG FPV that makes it special. Engine aside - they're pretty povvo for the price.

Have Ford or FPV ever come out and officially confirmed this transiant over-boost "alledged" feature ?.... or this this an AFF rumour that gets mentioned from time to time and grows its own wings, so to speak so that over time people accept it as fact.

If it's going to have that much power then I hope they call it a GT.

I don't think that Ford would really care about the resale effects - this one will be the last hurrah anyway, so future resale values for Falcon is not something they'll be too concerned with.

There will be 335kw on the engine cover - work the rest out.

The only time i have heard it mentioned outside of AFF is Caradvice review of the R Spec

Thanks to a transient overboost function, the Miami produces about 375kW for around eight seconds at a time. Because it doesn’t produce that amount all the time, it isn’t counted in the official power figure.

Not saying it is gospel or anything but it is also mentioned in the latest top gear mag like I said earlier. However it didn't say that they got that info from ford/fpv.

"Like other FPV GTs, the GT RSPEC has a regular key that must be placed in the ignition barrel and turned, but it doesn’t go all the way and start the engine. For that, you have to then press the Engine Start button. Pointless."

I always find this frustrating when this is brought up.

a) I thought it was fine when I had an 07 FPV GT.
b) The Ferrari 458 Italia I drove in Italy a couple of years ago had exactly the same procedure and nobody complains about that in motoring journals.

Anyway on the FH XR8 I'd prefer they upgraded the handling of the car rather than shove more power into it.

I think beautiful Italian supercars can be afforded a few more quirks than our GTs

It's an annoying feature of an otherwise very user friendly and affordable quick car

I always give people that same argument lol. Silly feature really but the starter button in the B series was a nice touch. Seriously needed updating for the FG.

I personally love the push button start in my F6. Could probably be updated with newer tech at an affordable price for the FH model though.

Presumably this is simply the magazine speculating about the actual power achievable with a flash.

Really good prices here, shame it takes the demise of the falcon to get a good price like that.
