hey guys does anyone know how much differently my xr6 manual will go if i put a 3.08 ratio diff out of an auto and put it into my xr6 manual which had a 3.45? wil i notice a dramatic difference at all or will it be roughly the same ? any infomation would be great help! thanks

Why do you want to swap diff ratios? or diffs for that matter

my diffs destroyed and about to give out and i dont have money for the 3.45 diff with abs because there a ridiculous amount for a s/h one and i dont have that much money now so i was going to change it for the auto diff because there cheap and then when i get the money get a new lsd 3.45

Being manual it probably wont be that big of a deal. Fuel economy should improve a bit I would think.

it wont be too big of a deal, but ill bet fuel eco will get worse marginally, as the car will labour more. it wouldnt be much tho. thats assuming city driving.
put it on the highway it will probably improve fuel eco. Ice |

Car wont be as fun to drive, but it wont have any detrimental effects on the car till you can save up for a new one.

my maths is pretty bad, but if i`m not mistaken it means your gearing will be about 12% taller(approximately) someone correct me if i`m wrong, speedo might be reading the actual speed as slower but be faster ???.
my xr6 reads 100 kph ,actual is 94 kph i reckon yours might read 94 and actual be 106 ?? , if you go ahead with it you need to be careful until you find out. |

I know this is not exactly the same scenario but here it goes. In the previous car which was an auto VE SSV commodore the popular mod was to swap the 3.09 diff for a 3.45 one out of a manual. I did it and the take off from the line was amazing. So for you going the other way yes when cruising it would rev lower but I'm assuming it's going to take more revs to get it off the line and need to drop back gears when accelerating from a rolling start.

Correction to my post above. The auto VE SSV's have a 2.92 diff ratio not 3.09.
