Default Weird SMS messages 30/3/12?

Last night around 10:30pm I started receiving SMS messages from my work which had been sent around 11:20am that morning. Just thought stupid Telstra and went to bed .. But my phone is on as I'm on call. Throughout the night I received the same set of messages at least four times + a message from someone telling me they were picking up the kids (I don't have any) + someone telling me goodnight (different to the kids message) + a Facebook update notification (I'm not on Facebook) + two notifications that my prepaid account was running out (Im not on prepaid). I think all these except the goodnight one were sent much earlier in the day?

Unfortunately I had to put up with all this as I need to keep my phone on .. So consequentially got very little sleep .. Thanks Telstra.

Anyone else have a glitch with their SMS messages yesterday/last night?

I did hear someone else complaining on Thursday about getting a text that was a day old.

It is probably the originating telco that you need to look at, whoever that may be.

Years ago I had issues with Vodafone with messages being sent days later.

Cool random texts!!! lol

Years ago I was getting SMS which were sometimes 1 or 2 days old, and worse still, messages from message bank which were 3days old!!! (And no missed calls)

Usually when i got all the old sms they would arrive all at once! (Like it was cached somewhere and then suddenly let go).

Hasnt happened since.

While we're reminiscing, I remember back in the day you could only SMS people on the same carrier as yourself...

Texting something important? That's what phone calls are for? I've had staff tell me they haven't receive texts, so I call them and leave a voicemail, and follow up with a text. That way they will get one of them.

yeah, i know. i hate "txt"ing at the best of times. but phone reception is pretty dodgy around here in a lot of places and sometime you can get enough signal to send a txt but not enough to make a voice call.

Problem is when it's an automated system sending the SMS .. I tend to get lots of them and usually the descriptions are enough to build a picture of a bigger problem.

The delayed SMS doesn't worry me so much .. It's the messages "coincidentally" from people I don't know and all the junk from telstra about my prepaid phone. It's like my number got mixed up with one or more other peoples phones?

Yes, there's at least three that I didn't get...the other half was adamant he sent them...I still haven't gotten them yet. But he got mine...

My phone will repeatedly show the text as being sent but the person I sent it to won't have gotten it.
I am also forever on the phone to Optus( the home phone) about them cutting off my service. The bill is paid monthly and is never late, yet my service gets cut off? They never have an appropriate answer either.
