There is a pretty hefty tax on our fuel... I think something like 0.34 USD per gallon just for the state and about 0.24 for the federal government. So over 0.50 per gallon here. But with our prices hovering around $2.60/gallon, about $2 of every gallon goes to the oil companies who are gouging us as bad as they are you! So I think... they're getting us for 0.77aud per 3.78 litres.

There needs to be an easy way to do these conversions because I know you don't know what I'm talking about.

You've got to remember that the population in the States is near the 300 million compared to our 21 million,so they can afford to get their Petrol cheaper.

$133.9 here @ cape tribulation (north of cairns) got up over $1.40 for a while
