Bit of a strange place to hold a rally. Beautiful area and all the rest of it, but I'd imagine that whole area is NIMBY central.

Let's calm things down a bit eh - extremist remarks won't solve anything (and in some ways are as equally unedumacated as those environmentalist protesters)
Next extremist comment, gets the thread closed.

LOL, you are all very concerned about the greenies lighting fires and releasing CO2 into the atmosphere, but very little about why there is a pressing reason we should be having rally racing through our forests or at all.

Surely you arent going to tell everyone we'll be made rich for all the extra tourism and tv exposure(yes there will be some fat cat promoters that stand to profit, like the formulaone farce at albert park) and if it were true I we willing to sell our souls for the privelege?

I agree most extremist dreadlocked greenies have a few strange neurons and too much time on their hand, heh, but without them, there wouldnt be a forest left in the country and the French would still be testing nukes in our backyard.

blah! What a load of woffle!
The Rally was on Public Roads and had minimal impact.
If you want a compelling reason why it should be held then look at the enthusiasm on the people's faces there and how much they enjoyed the event. Look at the faces on the kids when they watched the cars. I saw it. people were brought together to enjoy an international event and they totally enjoyed it. That's enough reason.
Go ask the bakery at Kyogle if they made a profit after having a record day.
The Rally has broad local support. Some residents along stages had their own parties with tents out front and visitors from interstate.
The opposition is the loud select few. Many of them just hung around the turn-off to Nimbin with banners wondering if they might one day get a life. They probably had their Bimmers parked in behind the trees.
