Default GM testing Turbo engines

Heres a story that I came across about a possible pontiac G8 Turbo.

http://www.leftlanenews.com/gm-four-...prototype.html

It may find its way into the hero dunnydore. Might have some fuel economy but you wouldn't tell anyone whats under the bonnet.

slightly off topic but i think its only a matter of time before holden/hsv go forced induction.

they are building these big cube motors with decent numbers and yet ford/fpv are matching/killing them with the turbo 6.

obviously it won't be the 4cyl like in the article but i wouldn't be surprised if forced induction ends up at holden in the next year or so. they played with a supercharger before which was pathetic but given ford and toyota both have force fed 6's at the moment, its only a matter of time.

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

I don't understand what is so funny about a G8 having a turbo 4 ? Is there a standing joke I'm unaware of, because Ford are being touted as looking at one for the Taurus:

Quote:
There’s less hard news about technical developments for the 2010 Ford Taurus. However, Ford has lately been touting new high-efficiency “Eco-Boost” engines, so the updated Taurus should get at least one. That would likely be a turbocharged four-cylinder as a new base powerplant, ......................
