Luckily, he hit the tree behind the cabin, or he would be dead. I don't think THAT will buff out. Looks as if his non approved seat covers stopped the side airbag from going off.

Gone are the days where a police officer could toe punt you up the **** and send you packing. Now adays we nurture these fools and tell them that it will all be good.

One can only hope that this was a wake up call for these idiots. Although I doudt it. Some innocent bystander will eventually pay the price for their stupidity. It just wasn't that day. Time and place for everything and travelling at 150-200kmh in a residential street is not the place.

For the benefit of the forums this is the letter that was part of the original email. Written by the person who took the photos.

At about 6pm tonight (10/03/07) the Ute below was traveling down a 50kmh zone @ an eye witness estimate between 150-200. They have gone through 1 of Kalgoorlie notorious spoon drains and launched into the air, upon bouncing back to earth something broke and the driver lost control. They have jumped the curb and launched passenger side on into the tree pictured.

It has literally torn the ute in half , separating fuel tank , rear firewall , tray , bumpers and tray liner.

In the photo from side on of the cab you can see the fuel tank on the ground between the police.

The owner of the ute is just 21 and hasn’t had the car for long , he was not driving his mate was at age 17 , in one of the pics there is a Cougar can on the ground next to the car and witnesses say they appeared to be drunk.

Initial reports were the owner was out of the ute yelling at his mate 'look what you have done to my ute' , the driver was laying on the ground. Both got away with only scratches and the driver had a bruised shoulder and is also getting charged with reckless driving.

Let this be a reminder once again that speeding . Alcohol and inexperience just do not mix !!!

I hit a tree in my old car... speed played a part in it, and the police knew... all I got was a fine for "driving a motor vehicle without maintaining full control of the vehicle" not even any demirt point loss...

That's because no one got hurt. If someone had got hurt you would have got "driving in a manner dangerous causing bodily harm", or worse.

i hit a tree once, with my old XE Spac Faclon...speed had a mmajor part of it. lucky it was a paddic basher though....mind you . i was sore the next day......
