Default Removing fake bonnet scoop.

Hey all, am new here so hello!

I bought myself a 94 ED futura yesterday, and the guy I bought it from had put on a fake bonnet scoop, he said they used glue, so I am assuming some sort of adhesive glue. This is the only thing wrong with the car (that and a few minor issues) and I feel like a bit of a dick driving it around, I'm pretty new to cars and therefore not really all that clued up on the technical side, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this sort of thing before, and how they removed them. If so did it remove the paint as well?
*paint is 2pack*

I have been thinking if i take it off myself it will remove the paint, so is there anything I can use to take off the adhesive or atleast weaken it first?

Any help is appreciated

Here is a pic of the car,

Its got a EB GT Bonnet scoop on it.

What other types are there?

If it is a rubber based glue you might be able to use fishing ling and goo remover.

Try a hairdryer. Heat it up, and it could work. I know it works well for side pin stripping on an AU. Heat it up and take your time. After you should be able to use some Metho for removing any residue. Will need a good clean, buff and polish. I can't say whether it will remove any paint, but if you get the glue hot enough it should become soft enough not to remove any paint. Anyway, its upto you

Id be leaving it right there! you might be able to get it off and buff it (if it doesnt take the paint with it) but if it comes off ok in a few months you will see the fade difference.

Looks good, just get a XR kit and it will look right at home!

leave it there and search around for another bonnet thats already your colour....

theres pretty much no way of getting it off without damageing the paint, and also, he might have put it on a bonnet of a different colour, and sprayed over the lot, under the scoop might be blue paint!
ive seen that done before.....

(ps i'd be removing the ugly seat covers before the bonnet scoop:P)

Doing what Bucknaked suggested with the hairdryer/heat gun will work best, if they used a similar adhesive to what Ford used to stick the side mouldings etc on, it should come off no worries. Theres still the faded paint issue though.

How long ago was the car re-sprayed?

Dont look to bad mate get the other two smaller scoops and it will look fine either that or just leave it as is.

As madnc_8 said get rid of the seat cover's first.
