Default President and Vice-President revoting

G'day all,

It seems the major events are coming thick and fast lately, and I've decided to take this opportunity to clean up the vague and messy 'Acting' positions that date back to an incident on our previous forums. Without going as far as digging up the Club rego debate at this stage, I think it would be a good idea to set up a vote to update/reinforce the highest positions of leadership.

President
As it stands, I have been 'Acting President' by default in the eternal wait for Club rego and democratic voting. However, many are happy with things as they are and it is unclear if/when that major step will be taken. My priority is not necessarily to voted back in, but to have the highest position taken by a responsible leader who will respect where we have come from and have a clear idea of where we are going.

Vice-President
Since the merger of the EA-ED and EF-EL Clubs in 2002, Sundeep (former EF-EL President) and Thanatos (EA-ED Vice-President) have both shared the E Series (Acting) Vice-President duty. Both are exceptional long-time members who deserve the fullest credit for helping to get us where we are. But unless there are objections, I feel that a single Vice-President would be sufficient now that the EA-ED and EF-EL merger is so far behind us.

I would recommend that revoting for these positions be a slightly more frequent event in future. A second point I'd like to make is that I would rather not go back to the days when there is a single person as Webmaster/President/Membership Officer/etc. There was a time when I was doing all these positions, and the Club has only improved since the workload was spread. For this reason, anyone with more than 1 Club position currently will not be eligible. This thread will be open for comments and objections.

If you wish to be a candidate for President or Vice-President (or both, but of course only one person per position!), please say so. There is no need for a 'speech' at this time - that will be the next step in a different thread and I'll provide instructions when the time comes.

Cheers!

Jack

Stirrings in the ranks! Fear and loathing on the campaign trail! I love it!

Ahem.

Seriously, I nominate 347stroker as vice-president. Great guy, well organised and willing to devote a bit of time to the whole E-series thing. Not sure if he's actually president material though...

I second Nick's motion. I would probably want to nominate myself also, but I honestly don't know exactly what is involved. Any chance of a better job description?

just off the top of my head, there's currently:

- ELGT
- NL FBT
- XH XR8
- EL XR8
- NL Concorde
- ED something
- XG ute
- NF Fairlane
- EB XR8

at the Stroker residence. These are surely qualifications enough to get Matt in to high office within the club.

I would like to nominate John (EFFalcon) for president, if he is willing to run for it.

[EDIT] I personally believe there is more to being E-Series president than owning lots of E-Series. If most of us had more money and sheds, I'm sure lots of us would have many E-Series. I'm not trying to have a go at anyone, I'm just stating my opinion.

That's clearly not the only reason I nominated Matt...

Good to see you put some thought into your vote.

Actually, that is a good point though. It doesn't really matter who it is, so long as they do their job properly. Which brings up the question I asked earlier - what is the president's job?

I would really like to know what the job entails. I would like to know what the person I vote for will be required to do. I want to make sure that I vote for the person I beleive best for the job. Without knowing what it is they have to do, then there is little or no point in voting.

for the role of president id say they would need to take care of all the public stuff, keeping the club stable and apointing people in conjunction with the vice pres. other roles like organising meets and bbq days would be the way to go, this club should be stronger with the permant apointed president and vice president roles. id also like to see john get the president role because he knows his stuff thats of course if he wanted the position, maybe a little turned off after whats been happening in the last few days.

Sorry gozza, I wasn't directing most of that at you. I was more asking the questions of someone who can answer me. Not sure who that is. I figure it is probably Trouty. But I'm not sure.

Should there perhaps bea seperate president for each state? Given that it would be difficult/expensive for the president to jetset around the country to be at events? Not to mention that it would also be unfair for those not in the area. For example; if the president lives in Country NSW, it would be difficult for him to visit Perth. Just my thought.

Ah... It is now that I realise there are state reps. Excellent. Who be the state rep for Sunny Queensland - the smart state.

Also, thanks for the offer Gozzam but I think I will pass for now. ;)

i'm curious as to what 347Stroker has done for the E-Series Owners Club to support his presidency?

- Passionate, life long commitment to Ford cars, and a particular interest in E-series
- Excellent management skills - the man runs a very successful business almost single-handed
- Personable, easy to talk to, helpful
- Has always supported new Ford fans and new forums members, myself being one of those

Matt hasn't asked for me to start flying this particular flag, and would probably decline any official office in the E-series club. But I still think he's the man for the job.

None of those things I listed were related to Matt being a good bloke. He is a good bloke, and he can sink beers and B&H Smooth's like a champion. However, the things I listed directly relate to his ability to run a Ford-focused club.

Fortunately, opinions are like err... Falcons? Nearly everyone has one, and a lot of them suck. Feel free to disregard any of the above.

Do you have anyone to put forward, Falcon Unbeliev?

Greenmachine - call them extra milds mate

Id like to see John get up but as mentioned by others, would understand why this may not come to fruition.

Jack seems like a good person, devoted to the cause. I assume eastern states residence is preferable for nomination purposes?
