Angry 89 Telstar tx5 beeping at over 100km/hr

Hi I was wondering if someone here could help me.
I just purchased an 89 Telstar Tx5 ghia and its beautiful. It had 206,000 on the clock and has been well taken care of. However there are two problems that I have found since I started driving it.

1. The car doesn't want to move sometimes from a stopped position, you almost have to force it to go...it doesn't happen all the time. I have a feeling its the transmission in need of a service. It also drops out of power or wont engage when driving along. I think this is also related to the transmission needing a service.

2. And the most painful problem is that it beeps when I go over 100kms. Which would be all well and good but I live in between two towns and the speed limit to both is 110kms and the blasted car beeps at me the whole way.

How do I switch of the speed indicator that beeps?

Ta in advance
Vanessa
