Default HSV/Holden E3

Hey guys,

I mentioned in a thread a while back (http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11286787) that Holden had registed a TM for the E3, E4 and E5 series.

Well, Holden have just registered two more new TM's:

TM1367494: HSVE3

&

TM1367497: HSV E SERIES 3

So coupled along with the previous mentioned TM1342237 (picture), I think that its safe to say series 3 is well on its way:

I wonder if the new bold styling has run its course already. I have a perception that most find it too polarising but I am unsure if this has converted into a sales issue at all. Last I heard they were selling quite well, but that was shortly after launch of the E2.

Launching a new model soon will distract from what FPV are doing which is the usual tactic for HSV. I'm personally not convinced of the LPG models potential to convert. It would actually need to prove to have a performance advantage over the petrol to have any chance I would think. Just being more fuel efficient and greener would not be enough for the target audience but I could be wrong.

It’s a bit like when the BAMk2 F6 came out. It’s proved to be much of a muchness over the V8 model in terms of performance. Once there was a clear performance advantage in the BF- FG series the notion of owning a turbo six over the larger V8 went out the window for a large group of FPV buyers.

I doubt there will be any exterior changes for E3 apart from maybe wheels, it's far too soon.

I think the E2 looks awesome. More wow than E1 and it has street presence that the GT wish it had. I think the F6 has street presence but the GT is too soft looking and blends in.

e4 and e5 will never happen. they were just made when the e3 trademark was discovered.

Geez. Given that LiLPG is marginally more powerful than Petrol, but costs way less to run (our Territory is converted) I think too many people have their head in the sand re LiLPG, or are too entrenched in the idea that LPG has traditionally meant power loss. You can't argue that running costs are not a factor, even for performance enthusiasts.

In fact, if Ford never offer a LPG I6T or V8, I can't see me being able to buy one again. I could justify the costs of a Petrol V8 in 2003 when it was under $1.00 a Litre - but not now when PULP is nearly always up near $1.50.

So LiLPG HSV eh? Who'd have thunk I'd ever be considering one of those in my lifetime. It's a pity it currently looks like a Storm Trooper raped by a Transformer at the front. The rear doesn't look bad though. I wonder if the looks will be tamed on the E3?

LPG would be available in more places then 95/98 RON wouldn't it? Between Taxi's, Government Subsidies and V8 Petrol 4wd's there would be a lot of cars running on it as it is.

Can we please stop calling it direct injection LPG- it's not direct injection, it's liquid phase port injection. Direct injection is totally different.

Why they convert back to petrol at 100% throttle is a bit beyond me- it almost certainly makes more power on the LPG and it would be another good selling point, to make up for the loss of boot space...

You mean the GT with the bonnet bulge, stripes, bigger spoiler and v8 note? If that is the GT you are referring to I might have to disagree with you in saying the F6 has more presence.

I wouldn't exactly say the E2s styling gives it street presence either, more along the lines of train wreck presence.

And if the "E3" series fails, then don't worry as they have thought that through.

The new HSV GTS with Li LPG... Yawn

while on the other side of the fence

FPV GT with a new Supercharged 5.0L V8 producing 3XX kw..

Don't think it will hurt or take away from the Coyote launch if LPG is the best thing going for them.

Why does anyone even care? Are any of you looking at buying one?

Have you seen the new Peugot/Renault/Skoda/Giraffe Snot?
They are so ugly/boring/whatever that I am not going to buy one but I just thought everyone should know that they are ugly and boring and whatever.

There is far too many paranoid shoulders with huge chips. Holden people will love whatever HSV do and Ford people will hate it regardless of how good or bad it it.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be........enmity without end.

I disagree. As a CAR ENTHUSIAST (as opposed to only utilizing one eye with respect to brand loyalty) I can appreciate a nice car when I see one. Even when it comes from the red camp. On that note, the original E-series were a nice car. The current model however........... not so pretty.....

Thats a bit like saying why are you on Ford forums when you dont even drive one??

People have opinions that is fine, not all of us are one eyed, Ive always test driven holdens nearly every time ive bought a new car, but always prefer the Ford. My next work car may be a holden tho as im over narrow Ford seats!!
