All options in Poll could be held as one event

Could be, but would like to concentrate to a single type if possible. Would be awesome though.

Being more of a go than show person I would suggest:

Lakeside day
Willowbank day
Gympie skidpan day

Something during which you can play......

Gotta agree with flappist here, although the Drags and Skidpans dont do it for me, punting the old Coupe around Lakeside gives me tickle in the pants dept.....

You could also have a show & shine on the side.....

I think a combination of several events would attract a wider audience as DJR-351 suggests. You dont have to do everything but choose the most popular. I would go to a show n shine with some sub competitions like a DB contest (Loudest sound system) etc..

I chose cruise, but have always wanted to participate in one of those charity bashes across a state etc. Has anyone from AFF ever done that? If I'm still on OZ in a year or 2 it is something I want to look into more seriously.

Cheers,

Jason

An observation rally is good for the family ending up in a picnic or skid pan or a track for the fun bits depends on what your after a family thing or a petrol head thing I find car shows don't hold much for families.
I don't live in QLD but anything that involves driving my car is a good thing.

Willowbank had a big open day last month - give Lakeside a go.

I've always loved the idea to do a Cannonball Run style run/'race' across Australia, or a couple of states ie. east coast cruise, but not race. Do a couple hundred kays a day, big charity party/ball etc, at night, day stop at a race track. With a big wild party at the end.

Oh, and have it that any ford can enter, non of this "millionaire" playboy thing

I'm leaning toward holding a cruise at this stage with an obsevation run / poker run simmilar to what the Monaro club of Qld done for years. I don't know if they still do it or not.
A show or motorkana at the end of the cruise would be good also.

I'm still open to all suggestions as to what event to hold and your thoughts will have great weight in the final descion, so keep em comming.

a show and shine is good for getting a high turn over of spectators through the gate , small charge each and $$ will soon add up.

cruise will probably be more interesting for the entrants but not many paying spectators so dont think you will make as much $$.

havent had much to do with running swap meets but might work ok.

a show and shine with some high profile cars to get the general public through the gate and some driving events (grass events, etc) to keep them interested after they have seen all the cars and to stay around and spend more $$$.

this is to be a fund raising event after all.

Yes while it would be good to get a bucket load of cash for Camp Quality, I do also like the idea of me and all entrants and spectators having a load of fun while raising money. Laughter is the best medicine, and If I can raise some funds while making everyone have a ball then that would be the best outcome.
You make some valid points and your input is welcomed

Thanks

That's exactly what we are doing. A mate and I had talked about it for a number of years and never went past that. While camping on Fraser Island doing our bit for the Fraser Island clean up, we thought it's great to help out. We decided there and then if we were to do a charity car event we should just jump in and do it instead of talking about it all the time.

My mate Damian Is a camp companion For Camp Quality and he also travels the hospitals doing the puppets for the kids with cancer so we decided to Take part in the Camp Quality esCarpade to raise funds for this great charity.

So if you want to do something like that, stop thinking about it and just jump into it. Just do it with your eyes wide open as it is a very long road that takes time and commitment.

We just keep reminding ourselves to have a fun journey and "it's for the kids"

I have to agree here, cruises dont make much money, they tend to take at least half the day to compleat, and while you are driving around no money/donations are coming in.

If you centralize it at a suitable location that is accessible to Joe Public, then you can host a number of events and have a nominal entrance fee.

With the correct location the possibilities are endless......

PS: I recall a number of years ago I went to a similar event, and one of the ways someone came up with making money was to have a Photographer take yours, your kids or your whole familys photo sitting in your favorite car, (obviously with the owners permission) The favorites being Hot Rods, but all proceeds went to charity and the Photographer was doing a roaring trade......

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I like the idea of photos, I went to a 4wd event once and a pro potographer took like 500 photos burnt onto cd and took orders for cd's of photos of the event at a cost of $10 per CD.
Maybe I can orginise a gathering of entrants for a few hours with some games ect to pass the time while cars are on display [gate donations from public for viewing cars on display] followed by a cruise - back to a venue with live band and more. Maybe prizes for best cruiser, peoples choice, most decorateed entrant ect.

Possible games for entrants or teams maybe for hubcap throwing, wheel change comp ect.

Would make for a fun event for all.

If you have any more ideas let us know.

My father in law is in a motorcycle club, they do a "poker run" whereby you travel to 5 destinations, at each destination you get a card from a deck at random - best hand after the 5 destinations wins something - case of beer or whatnot, bit different and gives an excuse to cruise do a show n shine cruise do a skidpan etc etc.... hows that for an idea? - always wondered why there isn't a car type event run in this way

Just an idea hope I am clear enough to explain

i think i have got one of those CDs here somewhere. guy was doing a roaring trade , about 50 cents for a blank CD, few cents for copying (power etc) makes for a good profit margin.

good plan, auto olympics are always a bit of fun. disc rotor throw (discus), tail shaft toss (javlin), diff lift (weight lifting) { we used a baby datsun diff, hub cap toss, wheel change,
