Default See Through Tyres

hope this isnt a repost, got it in an email today.. all i can say is :

These tyres are made in South Carolina , USA .
SEE THROUGH TYRES
Radical new tyre design by Michelin.
The next generation of tyres.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

Yes, those are 'spoke' like connections to the inner part of the tyre from the outside tread 'wrap!'

The next picture shows how odd it looks in motion....

These tyres are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these.

Just think of the impact on existing technology:
A..... no more air valves.
B....... no more air compressors at gas stations.
C........ no more repair kits.
D. no more flats.
These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

Pffffft... nothing new! I was in a public bus in Pakistan, trotting along the worlds highest tarred road till the bus pulled over....

This is what I saw.....

Note the 'spare'.... lol Perhaps they were also testing their racing slicks for high altitude endurance???

Search "Karakoram Highway" and "safe"... you will get 0 results. It is the road that links northern Pakistan with China... 700km in 21 hrs... I have got pics taken from inside the bus pointing the camera down... can't see the road, just a sheer drop... and mostly no rails. Prob the only time I regret sitting near the window lol.

Mate, that tyre is shocking. As for the Michelin see throughs, they're not likely to see production as the plastic insert is still too brittle to ensure longevity. Yes, this idea has been around that long it has been debunked and abandoned.

Yes... I agree. In Pakistan, a tyre generally gets changed only when it blows or wears right through. That spare was showing the good side. The other side had a huge section of rubber missing.....
