Central Lock Issue

AUIII. Wife finds car unexpectedly unlocked with the RH mirror 'popped' out of mount. Goes to work, not aware of any other dramas, but after work, the drivers door won't close. I get the car home and expect to find a bent pull rod from someone trying to break in.
I get the door to function correctly, but the locks won't function correctly. When I lock it, the locks cycle back open, and the horn sounds to warn the doors aren't locked. The inside door button won't movve up or down.

Any idea's friends?

Doors will cycle if the doors aren't closed correctly, or if the door ajar switch thinks the doors still open.

Does it lock with the key? If so, it's the actuator in the door that is broken (it will be the white gear, I reckon).

The door actuators have to be in good working order to engage central locking whether you use remote or the ignition key.

But for some reason, using the key seems to put less pressure on the actuator than the electronic remote. I've had 8 AUs, and 4 of them have needed driver's door actuators, and every one of them locked fine with the key - just saying....

ur right i even had 1 rear door not locking without me even knowing and have had the drivers door not locking either key or remote ive had to replace all actuators at 1 time or another

My rear passenger side door actuator wouldn't close so I cleaned it & it was ok for 2 years or so then it went into a continual clicking noise(like a ratchet sound)& I got a 2nd hand one from the wreckers which solved the problem.Anyone know if it's necessary to have all the interior lights working before the remote locking will work.I took a globe out because it was getting hot.

Taking a bulb out should work fine. Some of the guys at my old work took the light out because they didn't know about the inner switch and had it set to on all the time. (They didn't feel too good when I told them about it)

The one on the side of the headlight switch that also doubles as a dimmer switch for the dash lighting.

That's the one that slides up & down eh? Like you say the dimmer switch.So if I set it off then the interior roof light is off as well.Great!I'll put the bulb back in & get the remote working again.

It has 3 modes, low/high/on. Low would be low level lighting, then high is in the middle, and 'on' is for the interior light (switch would sit at the top)
