Default DC LTDs?

I'm lazy and can't be bothered searching .....

Anyone got any good pics of DC LTD? I'm interested in getting one as a daily driver. I've always liked the look of them (the long wheelbase E-series look a LOT better than the Falcon equivalent .. IMHO) and factory 5.0, leather, etc, it sounds like a really nice car. I notice there was only about 2000 made. Any guesses as to how many still exist?

Rod.

Good pic's?

Try these or these

Oh not all LTD's had leather, it was originally an option, same as sunroof or 5.0.

Look at pics of NC Fairlanes as a guide (eg Madnc8's), it is only the leather, grille, wheels etc that make much of a cosmetic difference. Don't overlook the Fairlanes, lots had the V8 optioned (it is a good option, no head gasket dramas) and they are easier to find - as always when looking at cars this age go for condition over the exact model. It was a common thing to have the LTD grille fitted, carrying over from the NA Fairlane where a lot of people did not like the egg-crate grille. Apart form elec seats there was not a great deal of difference between the Fairlane & LTD (look on the Falcon Facts website), things like the premium sound (6 stacker & subwoofer) you will often find in Fairlanes as well.

Dad had a DC3 LTD V8 years ago, I drove it a bit and it was a very nice car. Average fuel econ was 14.4 over the time he had the car (100k) and it would sit on 10 or less on the highway even with a small trailer. Best economy was 8.something from a tankful on a highway run in nthn Vic/sthn NSW (ie mainly flat country).

Do you have any specific questions?

I suppose I'm looking for a general opinion on what's a good (buying) price for a NC or DC V8? I'm thinking $5K in good nick? I don't see them up for private sale anymore .. most just appear in dodgy caryards which I refuse to deal with.

This is the "look" I'm after ... long and low .. Yanky style.

Rod.

yeah same, or they pop up on ebay, and i couldnt agree more....seems very dodgy

i bought my NC private 3 years ago for 5k, but with highish kms (had 250,000 on it) but that didnt matter to me as im building another engine for it and the auto had been fully rebuilt
its now at 315,000, and yeah its needing that new engine now....which isnt far away.

315 is pretty early for a 5.0 to be about dead though....it wasnt maintained very well (read - was it ever) in its past life, so i put its early death down to that..

i have seen nc's with the original 5litre still going strong with no smoke at 500,000, was onits seccond auto though lol....

Grandpa spec .. nah! Cars like this not about "in-your-face" stripes, bulges, scoops, spoilers and stickers. They are dark colours, dark tints, lowered, with a V8 burble .. menacing and mean .. just the *threat* of something .. like the FBI, mafia, etc. They don't necessarily really move fast, but people still take notice.

lol i was talking about the one wayne linked to, high suspension , grandpa visor over the screen, chrome strips on the edges of the doors, :P

it'd only take a few hours to remove all that and drop it to the ground though!

plus, i know all that, ive got a low, unstickered, unstriped, un bulged NC :P

I bought my NC2 V8, a year ago for $3900... 220000K's, 100% original and in excellent nick... as with any car, just bide your time, and a good one will come along.

As outback ute said, the difference between fairlane ghia's and LTDs is minimal, but the price is... for some reason, all the DC's I looked at, were all at least $2000 more, than a fairlane ghia in the same or better condition.

I reckon mine would do for a before and after... its still stock after all this time... im ashamed....
oh well... and I do agree about the darker colours... white really sucks.
I assume your after a stocker to begin with, so here's a pic of mine to prove that even under $4000 you can still get one that looks nice...
