Hi joede,
Nice Landau. That's the Yellow Glow Landau that was on Ebay a while ago isn't it?
Do you mind if I ask how much you got it for?
What's it like for rust?

Hi Muzz, Car is pretty good rust wise, but will need minor back window and a few spots around tailights as per ad pics (as per usual). inside boot, guards & rear quarters, plenum, sills floors etc all pretty amazing! Interior pretty amazing also- back seat hardly used, headlining unmarked, orig. carpet very good nick, Everything (inc. clock, radio, a/c) works with exception of fuel guage. Very nice original car (that drives ace!) with some typical of older owner/father & son DIY-type paint/body repairs on dings & scrapes of v. average quality. As my mechanic said "its so good & original you wish he'd just left it alone" .
Price-wise, wasnt a car i was able to barter much on-Fact. Yellow Glo in good v. original shape with owner's books etc....
will post pics when i get car back from shop- can't wait!
What did you pay for yours??

Hah Hah, Not wrong Cob! Would've been a brave (lairy?) choice in '73...Classic Aussie Hornbox!
Yellow Glo can look alot different at different times depending on the light, there's a heap of different pics of a very nice Yellow Glo XY on this site which illustrates this. When you see car in the flesh, esp. given black roof, its actually a shade or 2 darker/deeper than it looks in these particular pics, similar to GMH 'Chrome Yelow" but slightly lighter... Ace colour.
One more for ya- other pics in 'Show us yr coupe"

Smile Landau Registry

G'Day,

A very close friend of mine recently purchased a Landau.

It is a numbers matching and unmolested example.

Deep Ivy.
351 4V (yes 4V).
Leather trim (parchment or similar colour I think).

VIN JG70PS76812K

I will obtain engine code / trans code / trim code / paint code to confirm the above.

Comes with radio cassette option.

Original owner requested the following options ;

1. Dealer fitted XA GT rear boot spoiler.
2. Deletion of vinyl roof.

I was advised that not too many exist in Deep Ivy with 351 4V (was advised many came out in 2V).

I am twisting his arm to tell me what he paid for it but said it wasn't cheap !!

He has asked me to forward this information as he wants to remain discreet at this stage.

I will advise in due course on other codes (as soon as he advises me).

thanks.

geepee.

Hmmm, They were all 4V by the compliance plate. If you mean that it has proper 4V heads, then there wouldn't be many, if any, that came from the factory like that. It would be very hard to prove nowdays anyway that the heads are fatory original.

I'm also not real sure on the delete vinyl roof either, I can't see Ford putting the work into it to make it look presentable. Some more info and pics would be great.

Cheers,
Dave.

There is a chap here with one or two deep Ivy Landau's actually

Very nice looking colour especially with contrasting trim.

I actually would prefer that car with a vinyl roof, but thats just me!

Mine was Deep Ivy from the factory, but it's getting painted the proper muscle car colour - Black :

The above car is a 74 model, so not sure about factory 4V heads. Some of the early ones may have had them fitted, who would really know now.

Not so sure about deleting the vinyl roof - as Dave said I didnt think this would be something Ford would have done from factory given the relatively untidy way they put on the rear side window filler plate? I thought this was the reason they made them all have the vinyl roof's same as the P5 LTD because of the messy bits on the roof that they hide from sight?

I know two guys with 1973 Landau's - so one of the very first ones made - and they swear they came out with 4V 351 engines... not sure if this is true or not?

cheers Lisa

Default Registered at last!

Please find attached a couple of images of my Landau.

I have finally registered it after doing some tidy up work - new shocks, new tyres, rebuilt carby, engine bearings, window washers and heater valve. It drives very nice and draws attention whenever I drive it.

It was purchased early in the year and the details have already been posted by previous owner, but here they are again to save everyone looking and asking.

JG70PJ90698K
Build Date 5/74
Eng T
Trans B
Trim S
Paint 3
Brown twill
Radio/cassette

It is not perfect, but it is very original, nil accidents, minimal rust and has great character. I have no intention of restoring it.

It will be a 4V engine, all the T code engines where called 4V from the factory. The earlier T code 4V engines though had 4V big port heads, they will be marked on the heads. The later XB onwards 4V engines just had the normal 2V small port heads and a 4 barrel carb, they where still called a 4V engine by the factory.

Even if the car in question has the big port 4V heads, it is no guarantee that it had them when it left the factory, there is not really any way to prove or disprove it either.

I guess the vinyl could have been removed at the dealer, but there is a lot of work involved, would have been expensive I reckon.

They are all classics and are the pinnacle of the Grand Tourers released by Ford. :

Cheers,
Dave.

Midnight Blue with White interior! Now that would look great and worth seeing some pics of.

Is fairly rare along with all the 'special' LTD and Landau colours.

Hi Sydneysteve,
Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the Forums.

That looked to be a very nice original Landau.
I was watching that car but unfortunately, just didn't have that kind of money at the moment.
It wasn't too far from me as well.

What are your plans for it? I think it would be nice to leave original. It's a great colour.
Any chance of posting up some pics for us to see?
