Default HSV SV-R 325KW Clubbie

For the QLD cops only, or is it a sign of things to come ?
http://www.carsales.com.au/news/2011...re-power-27950
HOLDEN SPECIAL VEHICLES SUPPORTS QUEENSLAND POLICE ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN LAUNCH

At the launch today of their Christmas Road Safety Campaign, the Queensland Police Service has unveiled four unique Holden Special Vehicles they hope will play a very visible role in the fight to make their roads safer.

In conjunction with the Queensland Police Fleet Management Branch, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV), Australia’s leading performance car manufacturer, developed the unique, high performance vehicles that will be used extensively as highway patrol vehicles in Queensland Police enforcement operations over the Christmas period and beyond.

Based off the popular ClubSport R8 model, the “SV-R” model (short for Special Vehicle Response) has been developed by HSV’s engineering team exclusively for the Queensland Police Service.

The four ClubSport R8 SV-R vehicles feature a unique engine and suspension package and are emblazoned with prominent livery to promote the “Fatal 4” message – that is, don’t drink and drive, don’t speed, don’t drive when fatigued, and always wear a seatbelt.

“Our engineers worked closely with the Queensland Police Fleet Management Branch to get a clear appreciation of their critical safety and operational requirements” said Darren Bowler, HSV’s General Manager Sales. “After an extensive period of evaluating their needs, and testing by the Queensland Police, the SV-R is the best possible outcome”.

The vivid yellow “Fatal 4” vehicles are highly visible and designed to stand out on the roads as a reminder to all Queenslanders that driver and passenger safety should always be a priority.

The ClubSport R8 SV-R is unique with its 325kW power output (the same as its GTS model) and “SV Enhanced” Performance suspension to handle the load carrying requirements.

“Safety on the roads is paramount and never more so than at this time of the year. HSV is pleased to be able to play an active role in supporting the Queensland Police’s “Fatal 4” campaign”, said Mr. Bowler

Wink Re: HSV SV-R 325KW Clubbie

I have posted pics elsewhere but the grey R8 makes an absolute killing here on the coast ....

And regardless of what people claim to be true i can assure you when one pulls out alongside at 110kph like this thing does it has MUCH more than 307 std !!!

Try 400kws would be a better result, i will get a video one of these days

Good public relations for HSV, just like when the QLD cops had F6's I suppose.

Why don't they just use a RHD version of the US police interceptor Holden makes?

You would have to be pretty simple to be baited by these cars.
(look at the pics)

As someone else mentioned these things could be collectable (could).

All they claim they get is the Walkinshaw bi-modal exhaust and suspension. No different to any other Walkinshaw optioned Commode.

But you could claim that they are the only 325 kw Clubsports, but a long way from collectible IMO. 8kw is bugger all.

The cops should have manned up and went for a car that comes close to making that at the wheels. 335 GT. Blouses

I was thinking more that they have their own model name "ClubSport R8 SV-R".
It would have to be stamped on the build plate like that/or similar to make it official (which I doubt it is). Plus there are only four of them.

Skeptical me thinks it's probably just HSV PR spin (made up name) and they sold them dirt cheap to the police in return for positive media coverage.

You can't miss them.

(The pic of them from the rear, where they are all lined up at the footpath, kinda makes them look like taxis!!)

Pointless IMO does nothing that an SS can't do. You would have to be pretty stupid to be caught by it/racing it.

Well, that's a really good move by HSV & a very costly campaign for the Queenland Police, guess who are the winners here????

Gotta say, the only Holdens I like are the SS Highway Patrol cars, for some reason they just look really badass. The I see a plain white SS and it does nothing for me...

What a waste. For years police have been screaming out for a helicopter but every 6 months the government gives them a bunch of hotted up cars covered in messages.

There is no problem with the messages but surely there is a better way to get the message out. I remember when they got some F6's and had messages on them, not once did I see one of those vehicles on the street when I lived in QLD

Surely a deal was made between HSV and the QLD gov so the gov paid nothing for them but why cant they do that to get the things that the police and other emergency services have been screaming for for years

Its nice to see the Police appreciate something that actually handles unlike another maker that simply sells kilowatts ...

But really I personally think its just a waste of tax payers money ... sure it will make the cops driving them feel good about themselves and all that ... but seriously would they not rather spend money on something that's more appropriate?

Trying to intimidate the public with a large "high" powered sedan achieves nothing as most people who are serious offenders driving highly modified Japanese sports cars (GTRs, EVOs ...) will simply laugh at this ...

You guys do realise that QPOL are now prohibited from high speed pursuits for traffic offences.
In saying that all these cars have to do is drive up and down the arterial roads and blackspots at the speed limit as no one is going to overtake them (well not twice anyway).

They also have a second more important role. They are the answer to the question "You are doing this for revinue not to slow people down, why not have high profile cars instead of more cameras"......so they got these in addition to more cameras.....

Nice motorcars.
Me, being a tax payer, I deem it pointless and a waste of public funds. I assume the police are bound by the same road rules as other registered drivers, hence should not be speeding anyway, so why have such extravegant cars? A turbo Falcon with suspension mods and bigger brakes would do the job nicely wouldn't you all think? Going on the above post, the QPF cannot engage in high speed pursuits anyway.
I just hope they can drive them correctly and not become a road statistic themselves.
I've been on the road long enough now to notice that most of us can barely handle what's in our pants let alone the potential of the cars we drive ...... without the proper and constant practice and training, me included.

There's a future limited build car - one of four...

Sounds similar to another batch of cars that was built in the 70s...
