Default Grass Roots Motorsport - Mt Tarrengower Hill Climb

Watched the Mt Tarrengower Hill Climb at Maldon (Vic) last weekend. Spent a couple of hours on Saturday and Sunday watching.

In my opinion, was more fun than watching Bathurst the weekend before. A lot a guts, determination and fun. Not a lot of money on the part of most participants but all having a go.

A few Fords there, but the Ford highlight to me was "oldmate" who rolled in and XB GT (replica?) with vintage caravan in tow. Unhooked caravan, proceeded to scrutineering, and then up the mountain Wasn't the fastest then there but was having fun. Great effort ..

BTW .. I think a Valiant Charger won the event ;)

From someone elses FB feed ("might" be visible)

That's a real GT. I think his name is Stu. Car set up for hill climbs.

Good on Stu .. well done.

I'm sure he probably just hooked up the caravan on Sunday and drove home too.
(Caravan looked like it was being a bit of a pig to detach when he got there .. I suspect it had the old fashioned twist-lock on the ball and was jammed .. nothing a few hits with a solid object couldn't fix)

Sorry I didn't get any video footage of him like I did with a lot of the others.

Bikes were there too .. some very impressive stuff there - especially English stuff (whcih I'm not normally a fan)

On Saturday, the fastest run I saw (car or bike) was a Mini ..

I love the hill climbs, great viewing and noise.

another good event to view (for free) is the Targa.

High Country Vic is coming up soon.
the street stage in Mansfield VIC will be at race speed for points this time.

Great form of motorsport. A mates just bought a VS SS commodore (yeah I know) bad body, but with a heap of Bill Lee HDT mods, lots of bang for your buck at about 5k, goes like stink, is still licensed so no need for a trailer and he's got no fear of hurting it. Good way of letting off some steam on the weekends...
