I like it. For a tradie ute that you could go away for a weekend in it looks pretty good. The wheels are awful though, but nothing the aftermarket can't fix.

Cant say something nice about another car even if they got hit by one.

Typical Toyota interior? Have you seen the interior from FG - FHX? Lol

I am not a one-eyed Ford fan, I was being completely objective. It looks like the Hilux my dad bought for his company back in 2007. Inside and out. It wasn't that impressive back then either, though I did like the 4L V6 engine. The diesel is still rated at 126Kw/ 343Nm with a 5 speed auto. Also keep in mind that the Ranger is getting a makeover soon. Toyota just doesn't keep up. You can't tell me I am being unfair.

I’d happily have that parked in my garage, although I’m not sure on the front bumper design as I would want an ARB bar.

There is an updated model coming out next year, plus why would they need to update when it has been a great success for them in this country, better sales then the Ranger which by the way has only been a proven product in the recent year’s with it’s updated facelift in 2010/11, you like to mention the Hilux back in ’07, well how did the Ranger compare power wise and feature wise back in ’07 ?.

I guess I don't think the way you do. I don't judge today's products by comparing 2007 models. Yes the Ranger was crap back then. My point was that the Hilux hasn't changed since then. The Ranger has. Did I end up on Toyotaforums.com or something?

It's just like any other run out model before the new one arrives, a bit of bling and some stickers and watch them fly out the door. They are good trucks and Toyota has been selling a heap of them for a long time.

An 07 Hilux and an 07 Ranger are probably very similar. But a 14 Hilux and 14 Ranger are in different leagues.

I know 5 people with Hilux's made after 2007.
None of them like and enjoy cars like most of us on here do, they pretty much just bought them because "It's a Hiluix, mate"

Nah '07 Ranger was still a '98 Courier underneath.
However its 3L TD had much more poke than the Hilux.

Looks pretty ok. Less whitegoodish, decent serve of attitude, looks almost mini Cruiser from the front, better looking than the old TRD effort. Decent offering for those that must have a Toyota and like skipping test drives though the next gen should address that. Looks like stock images, leather always looks better when it's got that little wrinkle in it It'll sell plenty no doubt.

Even the 2.5/3.0 07 Ranger had it all over the 3.0 D4D power wise.

The 3.2 is another league completely

As for the Black, it looks quite nice from the front. Pretty considerate of Toyota to make it look good it in a rear view mirror!

Boring, awful wheels, crap interior, everything else is better, but they do sell...

September 2014 Australian New Car Sales Figures

Pickup 4×2 Segment Winners
Toyota Hilux 4×2 (1,035 - 29.4%)
Ford Ranger 4×2 (512 – 14.5%)
Mazda BT-50 4×2 (430 – 12.2%)

Pickup 4×4 Segment Winners
Toyota Hilux 4×4 (2,395 – 20.9%)
Ford Ranger (1,934 – 16.9%)
Mitsubishi Triton 4×4 (1,662 – 14.5%)

YTD figures, it's almost 2:1 in favour of the hilux

Looked at one of these and a ford ranger the other day, I test drove both and to me the hilux felt more refined in the way it drove and had a better fit and finish. I was super keen on the ranger after reading all the hype but it left me disapointed! It felt really cheap in the cabin, the wildtrax cooler in the center console was a joke. I couldn't really pick the power difference, but thats without any weight in either. I didnt end up buying either and went in another direction, but i can see why toyota still sell tonnes of them!
