Exclamation Finding a cars history from Ford

I have done a search but to no avail, and I know I have seen threads on here somewhere about this, but who or what department do I contact at Ford to find out a car's history?

Sorry to be a pain!

Thanks very much

EDIT: I rang them, they have no records for cars built by Ford before 1969, they never bothered to keep the records for then, that is a real bugger, but never mind.

No I called them on 13FORD (133673)

Simply gave them my VIn and they sent the information to my nominated email address

For a written copy you need to send proof of ownership and they send you thed etails on Ford letterhead

Which reminds me , I need to do that!

Maybe I wasn't clear with what I said, Ford have details of cars built AFTER 1969, but not before, I am chasing details of a 1966 Coupe.

I hope that makes it clearer why Ford can't supply detail, no how many times I ask them.

the current ford records start on vehicles sold in 1968..so if you have a late 67 XR or later the records are easily available..for earlier stuff the CRC just won't have access to it..

i use customers@fordcrc.com.au as they are usually more experienced than the phone operators so ignore the after 69 bit..

I enquired a couple of years ago and was told there is no record of my car. Anybody else had problems with JH cars (Queensland built)? Could I have possibly just got the wrong person investigating?

very possibly.

13FORD is hit and miss, i had to ring them 3 times to get info i knew they had, before i got someone who had a clue what i was talking about. Prior to that, it was 'we don't have access to that information'.

I have a query too, sent a request to 13FORD (actually email) as detailed below, but did not get a real conclusive answer.
Can anyone shed any light, either by way of confirming or otherwise what the car should be from the given information, or why there may be no information on the car?
Here is my request, and Ford response, many thanks.

I recently purchased an unregistered Fairlane ZD in Queensland, with the following identification.
I am hoping to find out if this is the
a) Original engine as fitted to the vehicle,
b) Original options as manufactured or purchased.

Fairlane Custom,
Body prefix, JG36LE73047K, as on tag and shock tower...
SIDO # 689098 (what is sido #)
Model 24133
Y R S U S...I know what these relate to, although I am unsure what the RR Axle code S signifies, (I do have a 302 Windsor, with column 3 speed auto, ultra white paint, with Saddle trim)

GH15924C is stamped on the block behind the intake manifold on the top above the bell housing connection

0013
C90E-6015-C, is cast at the back off the block behind the starter motor

Any information on the car, given the information provided, would be greatly appreciated

Dear Col

Thank you for your e-mail to Ford Motor Company of Australia Limited (Ford Australia).

Unfortunately, a search of our vehicle database did not locate a vehicle based either on the chassis/engine number JG36LE73047K or the SIDO 689098.

The SIDO stands for Single Item Dealer Order, and is a re-cyclable vehicle identifier (a cycle last 5-7 years, and then the numbers are re-used). The SIDO identified a vehicle when it is ordered, and is replaced with the chassis number when all details are checked and the vehicle is entered into the production schedule.

Model number 24133 is a Fairlane Custom, 4 door model.

The chassis number can be deciphered as follows:
JG - Ford Australia, Melbourne assembly line 1.
36 - Fairlane Custom
LE - build month April 1971.

If you would like to check the details you have given us, we would be happy to search the vehicle build database again.

Kind regards,
