Default Focus xr5 turbo speedo

i think its weird how the speedo on the xr5 turbo goes up to 280kph! first thing, the xr6 turbo's speedo doesn't go to 280, and secondly, i wouldn't like to be going 280 in that little thing. I love the xr5 turbo, it is a great idea, but why did they put the speedo up to 280kph? anyone got any ideas?

Cause it can get to 280 I reckon you would be able to do it if you had tyres rated for that speed and you were on a German Autobahn.

I don't think it matters if you're in a Focus or a Veyron going 280kph. If you get into a wreck at that speed, you're still going to be reduced to red jelly in the first milisecond.

Very true, all you need is to hit something on the road as well...Definitely wouldn't be doing it on our roads.

Being the sports model, I'd say it's just a gimmick.

Have you ever seen the fifth gear crash with the BMW and the Volvo? That was only 80-100kmh and they said nobody would have survived that accident. So 280kmh is no hope lol.

I wont comment on how fast it will actually go... as that is about as pointless as this thread.

Its pointless, so what if the XR5 speedo goes to 280kph, a lot of cars have optimistic top speeds on the speedo.

Hey, those were old cars. With how safe Ford is telling us their cars are, you might get lucky and only end up a quadruple amputee, drooling and retarded.

Considering how much the speedo's settings are out by it would probably not being doing anywhere near the speeds indicated anyway, once my car hits 100kph its only doing 90 according to the GPS.........

The Doc's hit the limiter stock DJ, a bit quicker than what the limiter is in the XR6T....

But then again we do all know that the Doctor is a bit nuts to even try...

The gearing won't allow them to get to 280km/h though, it's just there for show. Kind of like 280 on sports model Commodores etc.
