Default Discovery show "The garage"

Don't know how long this show has been running on Foxtel. I came across it last night.

They were replacing the bigend bearings on a Jeep that had failed due to oil issues. To do this they removed the motor and had is suspended from a engine crane. Dropped the sump, removed the bearings one at a time. Linished with wet and dry then in with the new.

The interesting thing was some of the bearings were completely destroyed and had melted against the journal. The replacement bearing shells didn't have locating tangs and they used multigrips to press a locating tang into them.

I thought I was a bit rough at times.

The funny bit was this was an english workshop in Spain and they were considered a premium workshop.

Used to watch this a bit when I was over in the UK

Funny thing is Bentley's and Ferrari's come into that workshop

There are masses of expat Brits who went over to Spain to live, back in the day when the pound was strong and would get about 1.50 Euros. The allure of the Spanish weather is very appealing to most from the UK.

Great show in my opinion, always very entertaining

I enjoyed it. Nice to see experienced mechanics scratching their heads trying to diagnose issues.

Also nice change from "the deadlines" that all USA car shows have.
