Default P plater insurance.

Probably been done before but I don't have much time to source another insurance company.

I'm 18 (almost 19) have a ED GLI 4.0 which has 2 mods.

1. 2.5 inch redback exhaust (no A/M cat for headers, 2 mufflers).

2. LPG

I was hoping the later would compensate for the exhaust power wise (as in no performance increase).

Also have a $1100 sound system that I'm not too fussed about been insured for.

I called just car insurance and they quoted me $499 for 3rd party fire and theft which I thought was steep. I am currently with AAMI paying $290 or so for 3rd party fire and theft. (I'm not sure about my exhaust with them though).

Would anyone have any ideas on a company that would best fit my needs?
I might do more mods later but for now I will prioritise insurance over that.

Thanks.

Most of the major insurers have online quoting now. Maybe do a few of those.

Thanks for that Mothernature.

Unfortunately I only know of Shannons, Just car and AAMI.

(I haven't watched a TV in 3 years).

Thanks Mothernature, just done the exact same thing and went through a 5min survey with one provider called CGU.

And at the very end of the survey it then decides to tell me they can't cover me due to modifications. You'd think they'd tell you that once you've entered your age and mods.

I was hoping someone here (I'm sure there's a lot) around my age with similar mods could point me in the right direction. Unfortunately most of these companies seem ti dislike drivers my age with any mods. (Even though my car is less powerful than a stock ED 4.0).

Try Alphera?
http://www.alphera.com.au/indexframe...heraThumbID=11
They have always covered me with my modifications (more than what you've got), and my bad driving history at cheaper rate than anyone else that would touch me.

Thanks.

I just gave them a call and they quoted $479.

Which is a bit too much for me. I am currently getting $290 gtom AAMI.

I'll keep ringing around.

I don't think comprehensive is worth it on an ED mate.

Not having a dig at your car in any way, but you've got to consider that comprehensive at $1000+ a year, you'll spend more than it's worth in about 2 years.

3rd party fire & theft for me on both cars, less than $300 per car (23 - clean record) - if one of them is involved in a smash.. I'll buy another cheapie, they don't owe me much.

Every one of these prices is 3rd party fire and theft.

I too wouldn't bother with full comp.

Try Lloyd’s of London. They may be able to help you.

This might be a silly question but if AAMI is nearly $200 cheaper why not stick with them?

Sorry.

I found out it's in my parents name and I'm listed as another driver.
