Default Which Petrol Stations???

Which SERVICE STATIONS do you reckon sell the best Petrol? Where do you usually fill up? I discovered that when getting fuel at one station of Caltex my car runs better and I get more kilometers from the tank

Mobile, BP, SHELL etc, post a reply and take part in the poll

..

I normally buy from Independand Fuel Supplies, (IFS) here on the coast as the 95ron ULP with 10% ethanol, is usually 2-3 cents cheaper than the 92ron at other servos.
Besides my car seems to like this drink and is quite happy with it, so I am too.

I usually go to the local BP but might have to change soon..... they no longer sell the Local Trader or Trading Post and the other day I went into a Metro and they were selling Adult Dvds.... I like their way of thinking lol

I'm in Sydney and originally I was using BP Ultimate, unfortunatly though I've gone back to studying so the extra $5 or $10 each tank really makes a different. I've tried a number of outlets and after much research I only fill up using either Mobil or Shell. Regular Caltex ULP makes my car run funny and there have been roumers in other sections of the site that BA's have been known to ping when on this fuel.

My advice if your looking for value for money (ULP) in NSW:
Try and fill up once a week on Tuesdays (most experts agree this is the cheapest day to fill up). On Tuesday afternoon at work go to www.motormouth.com.au and see where the cheapest petrol is in your area, fill up on the way home. Remember that Shell will honour a 4 cpl discount if your spent over $30 at Coles and also most Mobil's will offer a 4 cpl discount if you spend over $5 instore (ciggies, milk, bread, coke etc).

My advice if an extra $5 or $10 won't break the bank:
BP Ultimate, simply the best fuel out at the moment. Run your car until almost empty, fill up a tank of this and you will notice a difference 10 seconds after starting your car. Economy seemed to be the same when I was using Ultimate but performance and idle smoothness was increased dramatically.

Hope that helps,

Alex

Australian cars seem to like BP Ultimate, but I've never had problems nor noticed much difference using V-Power, Vortex98, or BP Ultimate.

I will go to the local independent service station as I would rather support them plus they have 3 cans of V for $5.00 all year around......

Won't go to Coles/Shell or Safeway Fuel as they are trying to crush the independent service stations and they have enough money already............

Either way you HAVE to buy petrol and stuff waiting in line to get 4c per litre off

I've recently changed from Shell to Caltex, once they got rid of Optimax and put in V-power I changed. Now I run Vortex in the XB, and it is the best it has ever run.

I seem to come across more BP servos though, so any other car I drive normally gets filled up with Premium.

Fuel for APCO is supplied from Shell Geelong, Newport or Mobil Yarraville. You shouldn’t have any problems with the supermarket sites there either. They’re all supplied from the same terminals.

Are the supermarket servo's as bad as everyone says? I mean, unleaded fuel must come under an australian standard or something to that effect?

Don’t believe half of the garbage you read. All fuel sold in Australia has to comply with the fuel standards act. Regardless of what servo it is, fuel in Victoria is generally made by Mobil or Shell. It’s as simple as that.

Don't you live in Perth?

How silly would you feel if you found out that the BP refinery in Kwinana actually supplies Shell with their fuel?

Edit. Here’s a link that may interest you.

V-Power Racing is a love and hate thing with people in here. Some hate anything Shell but some actually like using V-Power Racing. I'm still thinking if they're worth the 7c extra per litre (compared to 98RON PULPs).

Would i really notice the difference of bp ultimate in an EL inline 6? I usually just fill up anywhere the needle is empty. Never noticed any difference in usage/power?

Theres two different questions here:

"Where to get petrol?", and "Which Service Stations you reckon sell the best petrol?"

I get petrol vouchers for Shell which make it 8 - 10 cents per litre cheaper, which is OK for the Ghia and the wifes Polo.

However I use BP Ultimate for the MGB and Brocky as I think its the best 98 octane (theres no Mobil where I live).
