Default Looking to upgrade License class to HR... HELP! (BRIS)

Hey guys,

I am in need of upgrading my license class. I'm in the final stages of getting into the NSW ambulance service, and the focus is heading into getting a minimum MR level.

So i figured is just go straight for the HR license and broaden my horizons.

Question being, Does anyone know a decent driving school which wont bust the bank, or converseley, anyone willing to teach for a case or two?? :P

I live in brissie, but again, the main issue is getting a little experience behind a HR, and getting one for the test. Im only in the prelim phase of getting it underway, but any help from people who have done it would be much appreciated!

When I wanted mine I just booked two lessons and went for the test
I was a 2nd year apprentice at the time, but long term it paid for itself time and time again
Ps I went straight for the HR it did not cost any more, just a different truck to do the test and a couple more silly questions

Little Japaneese trucks, as far as operation, drive like utes. You must, however, be aware of the extra bulk, so as to not hang it off a pole or gutter.

Another thing for you to consider, after holding a HR for 3 years (iirc) you can upgrade to a MC with 50 hours driving with an experienced operator, using a logbook.

I think a HR requires a Bogie drive truck.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
MIke

in qld you only need your HR for one year before HC, then to pass the test. its 3 if you have a class MR.

Have a look at the QT website, the only reference to time periods is yrs with the lower class license, no logbooks, then test

The biggest thing NSW Ambos have are the rescue Hinos and their all MR so I really dont know if getting an HR will be an absolute benefit.

Do you have to have MR before your accepted?

HR wont be a benefit to the job, but i cant see it doing any harm!

I have to have an MR icense by the time i start, not neccessarily before. I am looking at about 2 months lead time..
